Job Description

The Junior Instrumentation & Control Technician (Water Treatment) assists in the daily installation, preventive maintenance, calibration, and routine troubleshooting of field instruments and control systems within water treatment facilities. Working under the guidance of Senior Technicians and Engineers, this entry-level role ensures water quality monitoring equipment and field instruments operate accurately and safely in compliance with site standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintenance & Troubleshooting Support

    • Perform routine preventive and corrective maintenance on field instruments under supervision.

    • Assist with cable laying, glanding, and termination of instrumentation cables.

    • Help diagnose basic electrical and signal issues across pressure, flow, temperature, and level instruments.

  • Calibration & Field Operations

    • Support the calibration, validation, and testing of flow meters, pressure transmitters (PTs), level transmitters (LTs), pH analyzers, turbidity sensors, and chemical dosing systems.

    • Maintain precise log sheets and records of calibration and routine maintenance activities.

  • System Integration & Monitoring

    • Assist senior staff during site inspections and testing of PLC/SCADA field connections.

    • Monitor basic instrumentation readings and report parameter deviations or hardware faults immediately to supervisors.

  • Safety & Compliance

    • Strictly follow site health, safety, and environmental (HSE) protocols and wear required PPE.

    • Participate actively in daily toolbox talks and risk assessment meetings before executing tasks.

    • Maintain clean, organized work areas across site facilities and panels.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Education: Diploma or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Instrumentation & Control Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent.

  • Experience: 0 to 2 years of hands-on technical or internship experience in instrumentation, industrial electrical systems, or process utilities.

  • Technical Knowledge: Basic understanding of loop checking, sensor operations (pH, turbidity, pressure, flow), and reading standard P&IDs and electrical schematics.

  • Soft Skills: Eager to learn, strong team player, safety-conscious, and good basic English communication skills.
