Metering Technicians

We are looking for an experienced Senior Metering Technician to support the installation, commissioning, calibration, maintenance, troubleshooting, and operation of oil and gas metering systems. The successful candidate will have strong hands-on experience with custody transfer, fiscal metering, flow meters, flow computers, proving systems, and associated instrumentation.

The role requires a strong understanding of measurement accuracy, preventive and corrective maintenance, metering standards, and safe working practices in oil & gas facilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, commission, calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot oil, gas, water, and condensate metering systems.
• Perform calibration and verification of flow meters, pressure transmitters, temperature transmitters, and associated instruments.
• Work with different types of flow meters including Coriolis, ultrasonic, turbine, positive displacement, vortex, electromagnetic, differential pressure, and multiphase flow meters.
• Maintain and troubleshoot custody transfer and fiscal metering systems.
• Configure, monitor, and troubleshoot flow computers, RTUs, PLCs, SCADA, and metering communication systems.
• Perform meter proving, meter factor verification, meter validation, and measurement accuracy checks.
• Support metering skids, meter runs, LACT systems, prover systems, and associated instrumentation.
• Troubleshoot measurement discrepancies, abnormal readings, communication failures, and instrument faults.
• Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance according to approved maintenance procedures and schedules.
• Conduct loop checks, functional testing, instrument verification, and commissioning activities.
• Read and interpret P&IDs, instrument datasheets, loop diagrams, wiring diagrams, cause & effect diagrams, and vendor manuals.
• Maintain accurate calibration certificates, inspection reports, maintenance records, and technical documentation.
• Support FAT, SAT, commissioning, shutdown, turnaround, and start-up activities.
• Coordinate with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, QA/QC, and vendors to resolve metering-related issues.
• Supervise and guide junior metering/instrumentation technicians during field activities.
• Ensure all work is performed in accordance with HSE requirements, company procedures, and approved work permits.
• Participate in metering audits, verification activities, and troubleshooting of measurement discrepancies.
• Ensure metering equipment remains within required accuracy and operating limits.

Required Qualifications & Experience

• Diploma or ITI in Instrumentation, Electrical, Electronics, Measurement & Control, or a related technical discipline.
• Minimum 7–10 years of relevant experience in Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Refinery, LNG, or related process industries.
• Strong hands-on experience in flow measurement and oil & gas metering systems.
• Experience with custody transfer/fiscal metering systems is highly preferred.
• Experience with flow computers, meter proving systems, RTUs, PLCs, SCADA, and communication systems.
• Knowledge of API, AGA, ISO and other applicable metering standards.
• Experience with calibration equipment and measurement test instruments.
• Ability to troubleshoot instrumentation, electrical, communication, and metering system faults.
• Good understanding of hazardous-area working practices and Oil & Gas HSE requirements.
• Ability to work independently and lead a small team of technicians.
• Good English communication and technical reporting skills.
• UAE/GCC Oil & Gas experience is an advantage.
