Job Description

The Instrument Technician plays a critical role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and
uninterrupted operation of Dugas facilities working round the clock in shifts. This position is
responsible for maintaining, calibrating, and troubleshooting field instrumentation and control
systems that are vital for process safety, environmental compliance, and production
optimization.

Key Responsibilities :

Maintenance & Troubleshooting
o Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on field instruments including
pressure, temperature, flow, and level sensors.
o Diagnose faults in Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Emergency Shutdown
Systems (ESD), Fire & Gas Systems, and Programmable Logic Controllers
(PLC).
Calibration & Testing
o Calibrate instruments in accordance with OEM specifications and
international standards (e.g., ISA, IEC).
o Conduct loop checks and functional testing during shutdowns and
commissioning phases.

Installation & Commissioning
o Install and commission new instrumentation and control devices during plant
upgrades or expansions.
o Ensure proper integration with control systems and verify signal integrity.

Documentation & Compliance
o Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, calibration certificates,
and loop diagrams.
o Ensure compliance with HSE regulations, company standards, and industry
best practices.

Collaboration & Support
o Work closely with process, electrical, and mechanical teams to support
integrated maintenance strategies.
o Provide technical input during hazard and operability studies (HAZOP), root
cause analyses (RCA), and management of change (MOC) processes.

Required Qualifications & Skills
 Diploma or Technical Degree in Instrumentation, Electronics, or related engineering
discipline.
 Minimum 5 years of experience in oil & gas or petrochemical industries.
 Proficient in interpreting P&IDs, loop drawings, and instrument datasheets.
 Hands-on experience with HART, Foundation Fieldbus, and Modbus protocols.
 Familiarity with CMMS systems (e.g., SAP PM, Maximo) and safety standards (e.g.,
ATEX, IECEx).
