Instrumentation & Control Tube Fitter (Oil & Gas)

The Instrumentation & Control Tube Fitter assists for the fabrication, bending, installation, and testing of stainless steel and copper tubing systems used for pneumatic, hydraulic, and process instrument connections in oil and gas facilities. This includes connecting pressure, flow, level, temperature, and analytical instruments to process lines, control valves, analyzers, and air supply systems.

The role supports construction, maintenance, shutdown, and commissioning activities in onshore and offshore facilities, ensuring all instrument hook-up work complies with project specifications, engineering drawings, and stringent safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Measure, cut, bend, and install stainless steel and copper tubing using manual and hydraulic tube benders.
• Install tubing sizes such as 1/4", 3/8", 1/2", and larger for pneumatic and hydraulic control systems.
• Install and connect transmitters, gauges, manifolds, solenoid valves, control valves, analyzers, and pneumatic panels.
• Fabricate and install impulse lines, air headers, sample lines, and instrument hook-ups.
• Read and interpret P&IDs, hook-up drawings, isometric drawings, and instrument installation details.
• Mount tubing supports, clamps, brackets, and trays.
• Perform pressure testing, leak testing, and flushing of tubing systems.
• Ensure tubing routing maintains proper slope, accessibility, and mechanical protection.
• Assist with loop checking, pre-commissioning, and commissioning activities.
• Identify and rectify punch-list items.
• Maintain compliance with permit-to-work systems, toolbox talks, and site HSE procedures.
• Coordinate with instrument technicians, inspectors, and engineers.

Required Qualifications

• ITI, Technical Certificate, or Diploma in Instrumentation,
• Experience in instrument tubing and hook-up work in oil & gas or petrochemical facilities.
• Proficiency in reading engineering and construction drawings.
• Knowledge of tubing standards and installation practices.
• Familiarity with hand tools, tube benders, and pressure testing equipment.
• Good understanding of industrial safety and quality requirements.
