Instrument Technician Shutdown Oil & Gas Maintenance

Job Summary

We are looking for experienced Instrument Shutdown Maintenance Technicians to support critical turnaround activities in oil & gas facilities. The role involves maintenance, calibration, loop checking, and troubleshooting of field instrumentation to ensure safe and efficient plant operations.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Report to the Instrument Foreman and execute assigned tasks as per shutdown schedule
• Perform maintenance and calibration of instrumentation systems, including:
  • Sensors and transmitters
  • Thermocouples (TC) and RTDs
  • Flow meters and detectors
  • DCS, PLC, and ESD systems
• Carry out loop checking, functional testing, and commissioning support
• Perform control valve and actuator servicing, including workshop calibration and testing
• Diagnose faults using instrument schematics, wiring diagrams, and single line diagrams (SLDs)
• Read and interpret technical drawings and parts lists for troubleshooting
• Execute installation, removal, and reinstallation of instruments during shutdown
• Support additional tasks assigned by the Instrument Team related to maintenance activities
• Ensure strict compliance with Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) policies
• Follow Permit to Work (PTW) procedures, including hot and cold work permits

Requirements

• Diploma or technical certification in Instrumentation / Electronics / Control Systems
• Proven experience in oil & gas shutdown/turnaround projects (mandatory)
• Strong hands-on experience in:
  • Field instrumentation maintenance and calibration
  • Control valves and actuators
  • DCS / PLC systems
• Good understanding of:
  • Instrument control schematics
  • Wiring diagrams and SLDs
• Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)
• Fluent in English (spoken and written)

Work Conditions

• 12-hour shifts:
  • Day Shift: 6:00 AM – 6:00 PM
  • Night Shift: 6:00 PM – 6:00 AM
• 7 days per week during shutdown period
• Physically demanding work environment
