Light Vans Driver

Job Summary

A Light Van Driver is responsible for safely operating a light van to transport goods, materials, tools, and/or staff between locations. The role requires punctual deliveries, careful handling of items, basic vehicle inspections, and accurate documentation while complying with traffic laws and company HSE rules.

Key Responsibilities

• Drive a light van to deliver and collect goods, documents, spare parts, and materials as assigned.

• Plan routes and follow delivery schedules efficiently while maintaining safe driving practices.

• Load and unload items safely; ensure cargo is secured to prevent shifting or damage.

• Perform daily vehicle checks (tires, lights, brakes, fluid levels, mirrors, cleanliness).

• Keep vehicle documents valid and available (registration, insurance, permits).

• Maintain records such as delivery notes, signatures, mileage logs, fuel receipts, and trip sheets.

• Communicate with dispatch/supervisor about delays, route issues, or urgent delivery changes.

• Report accidents, vehicle defects, or maintenance needs immediately.

• Support warehouse/site tasks when required (packing, labeling, basic handling).

• Maintain professional behavior with customers, suppliers, and site personnel.

Required Skills & Competencies

• Safe, defensive driving and good knowledge of local roads/routes.

• Time management and reliability—able to handle multiple deliveries per day.

• Basic documentation skills (delivery forms, mobile apps/GPS).

• Good communication and a service-minded attitude.

• Able to lift and carry moderate loads (as required by the job).

Qualifications

• Valid light vehicle driving license (as per local regulations).

• Clean driving record preferred.

• 1+ year experience in delivery/van driving preferred (adjustable).

• Basic literacy for reading delivery instructions and completing paperwork.
