Job Description

Job Summary

The Electromechanical Technician installs, maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs electromechanical equipment and automated systems to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations. This role supports production uptime through preventive maintenance, rapid fault diagnosis, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues on machines and production equipment.

  • Perform preventive and predictive maintenance (PMs), lubrication, alignment, inspection, calibration).

  • Troubleshoot control systems: sensors, relays, contactors, VFDs/servo drives, PLC I/O, and safety circuits.

  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, P&IDs, manuals, and mechanical drawings.

  • Install and commission equipment: wiring, panel work, motor replacement, bearing/gearbox work, conveyors, actuators.

  • Use test equipment (multimeter, clamp meter, insulation tester/megger, oscilloscope if needed).

  • Support automation and continuous improvement: root-cause analysis, corrective actions, minor PLC/HMI changes (if qualified).

  • Maintain accurate maintenance logs, work orders, spare parts usage, and downtime reporting via CMMS.

  • Follow LOTO and EHS procedures; ensure machine guarding and safety interlocks are functional.

  • Coordinate with production/engineering on breakdowns, shutdowns, and improvement projects.

  • Recommend spare parts, tools, and reliability upgrades.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Diploma/Technical Certificate in Electromechanics, Mechatronics, Electrical/Mechanical Technology (or equivalent).

  • 2+ years (or as required) hands-on maintenance experience in industrial/manufacturing environments.

  • Strong troubleshooting across electrical + mechanical domains.

  • Basic understanding of PLCs (Siemens/Allen-Bradley/etc.), sensors, VFDs, and industrial control panels.

  • Competent with mechanical repair: bearings, chains, belts, couplings, pumps, valves, pneumatics.

  • Comfortable working with 3-phase motors, motor starters, and control wiring.

  • Good documentation discipline and communication with operators and engineers.

Preferred / Nice-to-Have

  • PLC troubleshooting/programming exposure (ladder logic basics), HMI familiarity.

  • Experience with robotics, SCADA, or servo systems.

  • Certifications: LOTO, electrical safety, OSHA/NEBOSH (or local equivalent).

  • Welding/fabrication basics.
