Job Title: Handyman / Maintenance Technician

Job Summary:
The Handyman / Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing a variety of maintenance, repair, and improvement tasks to ensure the safe, functional, and aesthetically pleasing condition of buildings, equipment, and surrounding areas. This role requires hands-on skills across plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, HVAC, and general repairs, along with the ability to respond promptly to maintenance requests.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform general maintenance and repair work on plumbing, electrical systems, HVAC, carpentry, painting, and other building systems.

• Conduct routine inspections of facilities, equipment, and systems to identify and address potential issues proactively.

• Respond promptly to maintenance requests and troubleshoot problems efficiently.

• Assemble, install, and repair furniture, fixtures, and equipment as needed.

• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and materials used.

• Ensure compliance with safety protocols, building codes, and regulations during all maintenance tasks.

• Assist with seasonal tasks such as snow removal, landscaping, or facility preparation for special events.

• Collaborate with other team members and contractors to complete larger maintenance projects.

• Maintain cleanliness and organization of tools, equipment, and work areas.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or certifications in maintenance-related fields is a plus.

• Proven experience as a handyman, maintenance technician, or in a similar role.

• Strong knowledge of basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, HVAC, and painting techniques.

• Ability to use hand and power tools safely and effectively.

• Physical stamina and dexterity to perform maintenance tasks, including lifting, climbing, and working in confined spaces.

• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

• Good communication and customer service skills.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with preventive maintenance programs.

• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and blueprints.

• Basic knowledge of building codes and safety regulations.

• Valid driver’s license.

Working Conditions:

• Work is performed indoors and outdoors, sometimes in adverse weather conditions.

• May require occasional evening, weekend, or emergency call-out work.

• Must be able to lift heavy objects and work in various physical positions (bending, climbing, standing for extended periods).
