Electrical Technician

Job Summary

The Electrical Technician installs, maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs electrical systems and equipment to ensure safe, reliable operations. This role performs preventive maintenance, responds to breakdowns, supports commissioning, and ensures all work complies with electrical codes, safety standards, and company procedures.

Key Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and repair electrical faults in power distribution, control circuits, motors, and equipment.

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on electrical panels, MCCs, VFDs, PLC I/O, instrumentation, and field devices (as applicable).

• Read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, single-line diagrams, and wiring diagrams.

• Install and modify electrical wiring, conduits, cable trays, glands, terminations, and grounding systems.

• Test electrical systems using appropriate tools (multimeter, insulation resistance tester/megger, clamp meter, loop tester, etc.).

• Support equipment commissioning, shutdowns, and planned maintenance activities.

• Follow LOTO procedures and all HSE requirements; maintain safe work practices at all times.

• Document work performed, update maintenance logs, and report recurring issues/root causes.

• Coordinate with operations, engineers, and vendors for repairs and technical support.

• Ensure compliance with applicable electrical codes/standards and internal policies.

Required Qualifications

• Diploma/ITI/Technical Certificate in Electrical or equivalent.

• 2–5+ years experience as an Electrical Technician (adjust based on your level).

• Strong troubleshooting skills in industrial/facility electrical systems.

• Ability to interpret electrical drawings and perform accurate wiring/termination.

• Familiar with safe isolation/LOTO, permits-to-work, and electrical safety practices.

Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have)

• Experience with VFDs, MCCs, PLC basics (Siemens/Allen-Bradley), and instrumentation.

• Experience in continuous process environments (manufacturing, utilities, O&G, FM, etc.).

• CMMS experience (SAP, Maximo, Oracle, etc.).

• Relevant certifications: electrical license (where applicable), OSHA/NEBOSH/IOSH, first aid, working at height.

Tools & Technical Skills

• Diagnostic tools: multimeter, megger, clamp meter, phase rotation meter, thermal camera (preferred).

• Electrical systems: LV distribution, DBs, breakers, relays, contactors, motor starters, earthing/grounding.

• Wiring practices: cable termination, crimping, gland installation, labeling standards.
