Watchman

Job Title: Senior Watchman – Construction Site

The Watchman is responsible for safeguarding the premises, property, and personnel by maintaining a secure and safe environment. This role involves monitoring entry and exit points, conducting regular patrols, observing and reporting suspicious activities, and ensuring compliance with security procedures. The Watchman will also respond promptly to alarms or incidents and coordinate with management or law enforcement when necessary. Reliability, alertness, and integrity are essential for success in this position.

Responsibilities:

• Supervise and coordinate the duties of other watchmen/security staff.

• Monitor and control access to the construction site for workers, visitors, and vehicles.

• Conduct regular patrols of the site to prevent theft, trespassing, and damage to property.

• Ensure safety protocols are followed, especially after working hours.

• Maintain detailed logbooks of site activity, incidents, and security checks.

• Inspect and secure storage areas containing tools, equipment, and materials.

• Respond promptly to alarms, emergencies, or suspicious activities.

• Coordinate with site management and local authorities in case of security issues.

• Train new security personnel on site procedures and emergency protocols.

• Oversee the implementation of CCTV or other surveillance systems if available.

Requirements:

• Minimum 3–5 years of experience in site security, preferably in construction.

• Ability to lead and supervise a small security team.

• Physically fit, alert, and capable of working in shifts.

• Knowledge of basic safety and first-aid procedures.

• Strong communication and reporting skills.

• Basic literacy for record-keeping and incident reporting.
