The Senior Welder is a highly skilled professional responsible for performing advanced welding operations on water treatment equipment and infrastructure, ensuring compliance with AWS, ASME, and industry codes. This role leads welding activities, mentors junior staff, manages quality assurance during welding, and collaborates with engineering and maintenance teams to deliver reliable, high-quality welded assemblies.
Perform complex TIG, MIG, and Stick welding on stainless steel, carbon steel, and specialty alloys in accordance with AWS and ASME standards.
Interpret and execute welding procedures, blueprints, isometric drawings, and weld maps with precision.
Conduct fit-up, tack welding, root passes, and final passes, ensuring excellent weld integrity and dimensional accuracy.
Lead welding teams during fabrication and repair projects, assigning tasks and monitoring progress.
Mentor and train junior and mid-level welders on welding techniques, safety, and quality requirements.
Provide technical guidance on welding process improvements and troubleshooting.
Perform detailed inspections of welds, assist with NDT testing, and ensure welds meet quality and code requirements.
Collaborate with QA/QC inspectors and engineers to resolve welding defects and implement corrective actions.
Maintain thorough welding documentation, including weld logs, inspection reports, and certifications.
Promote and enforce strict adherence to safety procedures, including PPE, confined space, and lockout/tagout protocols.
Participate in safety audits, risk assessments, and continuous improvement initiatives within the fabrication shop.
Recommend and implement enhancements to welding processes, equipment, and materials handling.

Education:
High school diploma or GED required
Technical diploma or certification in Welding Technology preferred
Certifications:
AWS Certified Welder (multiple processes and positions) required
ASME Section IX welding certification preferred
OSHA 30 or equivalent advanced safety training
Experience:
6–10+ years of industrial welding experience, preferably in water treatment or related heavy fabrication
Proven expertise with fabrication welding codes such as AWS D1.1, ASME, AWWA standards
Skills:
Mastery of TIG, MIG, and SMAW welding techniques on a variety of metals
Strong ability to interpret complex blueprints, welding procedures, and technical documentation
Leadership, training, and team coordination skills
