Prepare substrates and apply waterproofing and moisture-protection systems to roofs, terraces/balconies, wet rooms, planters, podiums/ramps, lift pits, water tanks (if any) and critical joints—delivering leak-free, durable installations that meet specifications and authority expectations for a Category-3 G+3 building in Sharjah.
Inspect substrates for soundness, moisture, laitance, cracks, honeycombs, pinholes; chase/repair to spec.
Verify falls to drains (typ. 1–2%), clean outlets/weep holes, form angle fillets at 90° corners, and provide ≥150 mm upstand (or as per spec).
Check MEP penetrations & sleeves; fit collars/flanges and firestop compatible with the system.
Submit substrate acceptance to QA/QC before application.
Mix/apply primers to coverage rates; confirm pot life and re-coat windows.
Apply liquid membranes by roller/squeegee/spray to specified WFT/DFT, reinforcing corners/changes of plane and cracks.
Install sheet membranes: align, torch/heat-weld or self-adhere; respect side/end laps, fish-mouth closures, terminations and edge securement.
Protect finished membranes with protection boards/screed/tiles as detailed; keep weep holes open.
Wet rooms/balconies: full tanking to walls/floors; clamp at drains; verify falls and threshold details before tiling.
Roofs/planters: root-resistant layer (if specified), drainage board & filter fabric, overflow scuppers/drip edges.
Lift pits/tanks: positive-side coating; inject/plug active leaks if found; ensure ventilation and gas monitoring if confined.
Conduct flood tests (duration per spec) and dye tests; log results with photos and locations.
Record WFT/DFT, batch/lot numbers, ambient/substrate temperature & RH; offer adhesion tests where required.
Repair defects, re-test, and hand over protected areas to next trade with sign-off.
Coordinate with tiling/finishes for movement joints, perimeter sealants, and protection periods.
Sequence works to avoid damage by follow-on trades; maintain no-traffic windows until protection is in place.
Follow hot-work permits for torch-on; maintain fire watch, extinguishers, spark mats and gas-cylinder controls.
Manage VOC/fumes and ventilation; use PPE (gloves, goggles, respirator), and respect MSDS for chemicals.
Edge protection for roof/terrace works; safe access in pits/shafts (confined space controls).
Heat & Humidity:
Work early morning/evening; comply with the MOHRE summer midday break.
Avoid application on hot substrates; check dew point/RH limits; expect extended or accelerated cure depending on system—follow data sheets.
Shade materials; keep primers/membranes within temperature range; cool mixing water where allowed.
Dust/Sand:
Keep surfaces clean right before coating; use dust control during grinding; cover fresh membranes from wind-blown sand.
Occasional Rain/Coastal Influence:
Do not apply on damp/wet substrates unless the system allows; seal roof penetrations; use corrosion-resistant fixings where specified.
Traffic & Logistics:
Schedule off-peak deliveries for cylinders/bitumen rolls; secure flammable storage; provide banksmen for rooftop hoisting.
Protect escape routes and finished areas; avoid slab overloading with material stacks.
5–8 years waterproofing application (UAE/GCC preferred) on low/mid-rise projects.
Proven skills with torch-on, liquid membranes, cementitious systems and detailing.
Able to read details/drawings, complete QA forms, and coordinate with tiling/MEP.
Basic English for coordination (Arabic/Urdu/Hindi an advantage).
Gas torch & hoses/regulators, rollers/squeegees/trowels, hot-air gun, grinders/scarifiers, moisture meter, WFT combs/DFT gauge, notched trowels, mixing drill/paddle, utility knives, pinhole/holiday detector (if specified), dye/flood test kits, thermohygrometer, PPE, fire-safety gear.
Meticulous detailing (corners, penetrations, terminations)
Clean substrate prep & thickness control
Leak-prevention mindset and tidy protection/housekeeping
Safe hot-work and chemical handling
Clear documentation and coordination with adjacent trades
100% pass on flood/dye tests at first attempt (or ≤ target re-test rate).
Zero leaks at handover and during DLP; minimal patch repairs.
QA records complete: WFT/DFT logs, batch/lot traceability, photo evidence.
No hot-work incidents; full compliance with midday break/HSE rules.
Areas handed over on programme, protected and signed off.
