Job Title: Water Systems Automation Engineer
Job Summary:
The Water Systems Automation Engineer (Fresher) is responsible for supporting the design, installation, configuration, and maintenance of automation systems in water treatment and distribution facilities. This entry-level role provides an excellent opportunity to learn about the integration of SCADA, PLCs, and other control systems used to monitor and manage water systems. The role involves assisting senior engineers with automation and control tasks, troubleshooting issues, ensuring system performance, and ensuring compliance with water quality and environmental regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
Automation System Support:
- Assist in the installation and configuration of automation systems, including SCADA, PLCs, sensors, and control devices used in water systems.
- Support senior engineers in configuring and optimizing automation systems for water treatment plants, distribution networks, and water storage facilities.
- Help integrate automation systems with other monitoring and control systems to ensure seamless operation and data flow.
System Monitoring and Data Collection:
- Monitor real-time data from water treatment and distribution systems to ensure that water quality parameters, flow rates, and other key metrics remain within operational standards.
- Assist in collecting, analyzing, and reporting data related to water quality, pressure, flow, and other system performance indicators.
- Help generate regular reports on system performance and water quality to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
Troubleshooting and System Maintenance:
- Assist in diagnosing and troubleshooting basic issues related to automation systems, sensors, and other control equipment.
- Provide support during system maintenance, including testing, calibration, and routine inspections of sensors, control valves, pumps, and PLC systems.
- Support senior engineers in performing corrective and preventive maintenance on automation equipment to ensure reliability and minimize downtime.
System Configuration and Testing:
- Assist with configuring control logic and parameters for automation systems, such as adjusting PLC programming for specific water treatment processes or flow control.
- Support testing and commissioning of new automation systems or upgrades, ensuring they meet operational specifications and regulatory standards.
- Assist with system checks and validations during initial setup or after updates to ensure all devices and systems are functioning properly.
Collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams:
- Work closely with operators, engineers, and maintenance teams to ensure smooth integration of automation systems into daily operations.
- Provide assistance and training to plant operators on how to use automation systems effectively for monitoring and controlling water treatment processes.
- Participate in team meetings to discuss system performance, challenges, and potential improvements to water systems automation.
Learning and Development:
- Develop technical expertise in automation technologies, SCADA systems, PLCs, and water systems through hands-on experience and mentorship.
- Participate in training programs, workshops, and other learning opportunities to enhance knowledge of automation systems and water treatment technologies.
- Stay updated on emerging trends and technologies in water systems automation and control systems.
Regulatory Compliance and Documentation:
- Help ensure that automation systems comply with environmental and regulatory standards for water quality and safety.
- Assist in maintaining accurate documentation of system configurations, performance data, and maintenance records for compliance and operational auditing purposes.

- Strong interest in learning about water treatment processes, water quality monitoring, and automation technologies.
- Basic knowledge of electrical circuits and control systems (e.g., relay logic, PLC programming) is a plus.
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to learn quickly and troubleshoot basic system issues.
- Good communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with operators, engineers, and maintenance teams.
Educational Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, Mechatronics, Environmental Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Basic coursework or certifications related to PLC programming, SCADA systems, or automation technologies are a plus.
Experience:
- No prior professional experience required; internships, academic projects, or hands-on training related to water systems automation, control systems, or industrial automation is beneficial.
- Exposure to PLC programming, SCADA systems, or water treatment processes through academic coursework or projects is advantageous.
Tools and Technologies:
- Exposure to SCADA software platforms (e.g., Wonderware, Siemens WinCC, Ignition).
- Familiarity with PLC programming languages (e.g., Ladder Logic, Structured Text).
- Understanding of basic water treatment technologies and systems (e.g., filtration, chlorination, pumping systems) is a plus.
