Job Title: Warehouse Equipment Maintenance Technician


Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Senior Warehouse Equipment Maintenance Technician to join our maintenance team. In this senior role, you will be responsible for the leadership and oversight of all maintenance and repair activities for warehouse equipment, including forklifts, conveyors, automated systems, and other material handling machinery. As a senior technician, you will provide expertise in troubleshooting, mentoring junior technicians, managing maintenance schedules, and ensuring that all warehouse equipment operates at optimal performance levels. You will also play a key role in implementing preventive maintenance strategies and contributing to the continuous improvement of maintenance processes.


Key Responsibilities:

  1. Leadership and Supervision:

    • Lead and oversee the daily operations of the maintenance team, ensuring that all equipment is maintained and repaired in accordance with company standards and safety guidelines.
    • Assign tasks to junior and mid-level technicians, providing guidance, support, and training as necessary.
    • Mentor and coach less experienced technicians to help them develop their skills, ensuring high-quality work and adherence to safety protocols.
    • Conduct performance evaluations for team members and provide ongoing feedback for improvement.
  2. Advanced Equipment Maintenance and Repair:

    • Perform and supervise the maintenance and repair of complex warehouse equipment, including forklifts, automated conveyor systems, pallet jacks, and other material handling machinery.
    • Diagnose and troubleshoot complex mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues, using advanced diagnostic tools and techniques.
    • Ensure all repairs are completed efficiently, safely, and in compliance with operational standards and schedules.
    • Lead and support emergency repairs during critical breakdowns, ensuring minimal disruption to warehouse operations.
  3. Preventive Maintenance Program:

    • Develop, implement, and oversee a comprehensive preventive maintenance (PM) program for all warehouse equipment.
    • Create and manage maintenance schedules to ensure timely service and reduce equipment downtime.
    • Track and analyze equipment performance to identify patterns, proactively address issues, and optimize maintenance processes.
  4. Safety and Compliance:

    • Ensure that all maintenance work is performed in compliance with safety regulations, industry standards, and company policies.
    • Enforce safe working practices and ensure the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) for all technicians.
    • Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments to identify potential hazards, ensuring that the team follows all safety procedures.
    • Lead safety training sessions for the maintenance team and ensure compliance with environmental and safety regulations.
  5. Documentation and Reporting:

    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all maintenance activities, repairs, inspections, and parts usage.
    • Prepare and present detailed reports on equipment status, maintenance work completed, and upcoming maintenance needs to management.
    • Ensure that maintenance logs are accurately documented and available for review, helping to track the performance and condition of equipment.
  6. Resource Management:

    • Manage inventory levels for spare parts, tools, and equipment, ensuring that necessary materials are available for timely maintenance and repairs.
    • Work closely with management to forecast material needs and budget for maintenance activities.
    • Oversee the ordering of replacement parts, tools, and equipment required for repairs and preventive maintenance tasks.
  7. Continuous Improvement:

    • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency of the maintenance team, reduce costs, and minimize equipment downtime.
    • Stay informed on the latest industry trends, tools, and best practices, recommending new technologies or methodologies to improve maintenance operations.
    • Contribute to the development of training materials, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and best practices for the maintenance department.
  8. Collaboration with Other Departments:

    • Coordinate with warehouse operations, logistics, and other departments to ensure that equipment is available and operational when needed.
    • Work closely with other senior staff to align maintenance activities with warehouse productivity goals and operational schedules.
    • Participate in cross-functional meetings to provide input on operational improvements and help solve technical issues affecting warehouse operations.

    • Use advanced diagnostic skills to address and resolve complex mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues with warehouse equipment.
  3. Preventive Maintenance Optimization:

    • Oversee and optimize preventive maintenance processes to maximize equipment reliability and minimize downtime.
  4. Safety and Regulatory Compliance:

    • Enforce safety standards, ensuring that all maintenance activities are carried out in a safe and compliant manner.
  5. Resource Management and Process Improvement:

    • Manage resources effectively, including inventory and tools, and implement process improvements to increase operational efficiency.

Qualifications and Skills:

  1. Educational Requirements:

    • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or associate’s degree in mechanical, electrical, or industrial maintenance is preferred.
    • Additional certifications related to warehouse equipment maintenance, safety, or hydraulics are a plus.
  2. Experience:

    • 5+ years of hands-on experience in warehouse equipment maintenance, with at least 2 years in a senior or supervisory role.
    • Strong knowledge of forklifts, conveyors, automated material handling systems, and other warehouse machinery.
    • Proven experience in troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining complex warehouse equipment.
  3. Skills:

    • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and guide a team of technicians.
    • Expertise in mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems, with the ability to diagnose and repair complex issues.
    • Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
    • Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and implement solutions quickly.
    • Strong communication and organizational skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
    • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously.
  4. Certifications (Preferred):

    • Forklift maintenance and repair certification.
    • OSHA or similar safety certifications.
    • Certifications in electrical, mechanical, or hydraulics systems maintenance are a plus.
