The Vice President of Engineering is a senior executive responsible for setting the vision, direction, and execution strategy for all engineering functions within the organization. The VP leads multi-disciplinary teams across design, development, planning, and execution, ensuring technical excellence, innovation, project delivery, and alignment with organizational goals. The role requires a deep understanding of industry codes, project lifecycles, resource management, and engineering governance.
Define and drive the engineering strategy in line with corporate objectives, technology trends, and market needs.
Lead and manage multi-disciplinary engineering teams (mechanical, civil, electrical, instrumentation, process, etc.) across all projects.
Oversee the engineering design lifecycle—from conceptual and FEED to detailed engineering and as-built documentation.
Ensure all engineering outputs comply with international standards (e.g., ASME, API, ASTM, ISO, IEC, AISC) and client specifications.
Collaborate closely with project management, procurement, construction, and quality teams to ensure on-time, cost-effective, and high-quality project execution.
Champion the integration of digital engineering tools, such as 3D modeling, BIM, engineering simulation, and PLM systems.
Drive continuous improvement and innovation in design practices, engineering methodologies, and knowledge management.
Provide technical leadership during client interactions, regulatory reviews, audits, and technical risk assessments.
Recruit, mentor, and develop high-performing engineering talent, fostering a culture of excellence and accountability.
Lead engineering governance, including design reviews, HAZOP, constructability studies, and technical audits.
Engineering Strategy & Execution: Long-term technical planning and project execution excellence.
Cross-functional Integration: Seamless coordination with procurement, construction, commissioning, and operations.
Technical Compliance & Quality: Ensuring adherence to global codes, standards, and best practices.
Innovation & Digitalization: Adoption of smart tools and platforms for design optimization and knowledge capture.
Talent Development: Building and mentoring high-caliber engineering teams and future leaders.
Client & Stakeholder Engagement: Providing high-level technical interface and managing client expectations.
Sustainability & Safety: Integrating safety, environmental, and energy-efficiency principles into all engineering deliverables.
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or relevant Engineering discipline (mandatory)
Master’s Degree in Engineering Management, Project Management, or MBA (preferred)
Certifications (Preferred):
Chartered Engineer (CEng) / PE License
PMP, Six Sigma, or equivalent project management credentials
Familiarity with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and OHSAS/ISO 45001 systems
Experience:
20+ years in engineering design and project execution roles in EPC, oil & gas, manufacturing, or infrastructure sectors
10+ years in senior leadership or executive management positions
Proven track record of managing large-scale, multi-million-dollar engineering portfolios
Skills:

Strong technical knowledge and business acumen
Proficiency in engineering software tools (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, SmartPlant, AVEVA, ETAP, STAAD, etc.)
