The Valve Technician – Sanitary Systems is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of sanitary valve systems used in hygienic food and beverage processing environments. This role works independently and collaboratively with maintenance and engineering teams to ensure valve systems operate reliably, meet strict hygiene standards, and comply with regulatory requirements. The technician supports continuous improvement initiatives and contributes to minimizing downtime through expert valve care and problem resolution.
Install, calibrate, and commission manual and automated sanitary valves, including pneumatic and electric actuators.
Perform preventive and corrective maintenance, including seal replacements, actuator servicing, and valve rebuilds.
Conduct functional testing and performance verification to ensure proper valve operation.
Conduct detailed inspections to detect wear, leaks, contamination, and mechanical issues.
Diagnose valve system failures and implement effective corrective actions to minimize production impact.
Collaborate with engineering and quality teams on root cause analysis and reliability improvements.
Maintain accurate maintenance records, service reports, and compliance documentation.
Ensure all valve work complies with 3-A Sanitary Standards, FDA, USDA, and company food safety policies.
Support internal and external audits related to valve systems and maintenance practices.
Recommend improvements to valve maintenance practices, spare parts inventory, and reliability programs.
Train junior technicians on valve maintenance, troubleshooting, and hygiene requirements.

Technical diploma, associate degree, or equivalent vocational training in mechanical maintenance or related field
3–5 years of experience maintaining sanitary valves or similar equipment in food, beverage, pharmaceutical, or related industries
Proficient with pneumatic and electric valve actuators and control systems
Strong mechanical skills and ability to diagnose complex valve issues
Knowledge of hygienic standards, sanitary valve design, and food safety regulations
Good record-keeping and communication skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
