Job Title: Valve Technician

Job Summary:

We are seeking a Junior Valve Technician to join our team. In this role, you will assist with the maintenance, repair, and installation of valves used in various industrial and commercial applications. You will work closely with senior technicians and engineers to ensure valves operate efficiently and meet all performance and safety standards. This position is ideal for individuals who have basic knowledge of mechanical systems or valve technology and are eager to develop their skills in a hands-on, dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Valve Maintenance and Repair:

    • Assist with the maintenance and repair of valves in industrial applications, including cleaning, disassembly, replacement of parts, and reassembly.
    • Help troubleshoot and diagnose valve issues, such as leaks, wear, or failure, and assist in implementing corrective actions.
    • Perform regular inspections of valve systems and components to ensure proper functioning and safety.
  2. Valve Installation:

    • Support the installation of new valves and valve systems, ensuring proper alignment and secure fitting in systems.
    • Assist in the installation of related equipment such as actuators, sensors, and control systems.
    • Ensure that installation is done according to specifications and industry standards.
  3. Testing and Commissioning:

    • Assist in conducting tests on valves, including pressure testing, leak testing, and performance testing, to ensure they meet design and operational standards.
    • Work with senior technicians to analyze test results and make adjustments or improvements as necessary.
    • Help document testing procedures and report any discrepancies or failures to senior engineers.
  4. Troubleshooting and Support:

    • Support senior technicians in identifying issues in valve operation and provide assistance in resolving mechanical or performance problems.
    • Assist in valve system troubleshooting, including pressure, temperature, and flow issues.
    • Help identify potential causes for malfunctions or inefficiencies and contribute to providing solutions.
  5. Documentation and Reporting:

    • Maintain accurate records of valve installations, repairs, inspections, and testing activities.
    • Document valve specifications, maintenance schedules, and any issues or concerns observed during maintenance tasks.
    • Prepare reports and assist in maintaining an organized log of valve maintenance activities for future reference.
  6. Learning and Development:

    • Participate in on-the-job training and mentorship from senior technicians to develop expertise in valve maintenance, installation, and troubleshooting.
    • Continuously learn about the latest valve technologies, industry standards, and best practices.
    • Stay up to date on safety regulations and ensure compliance with safety protocols during all valve-related activities.

Key Focus Areas:

Field Instrumentation: Assist in maintaining and calibrating field devices for accurate process control.

Troubleshooting: Learn basic fault diagnosis and support the resolution of issues in instrumentation systems.

Safety Compliance: Follow safety protocols and participate in training programs to ensure workplace safety.

Skill Development: Gain technical knowledge and experience in oil and gas field operations.

Qualifications and Skills:

  1. Educational Requirements:

    • High school diploma or equivalent.
    • Basic knowledge of mechanical systems or valve technologies is a plus but not required.
    • A degree or certification in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field is beneficial but not necessary.
  2. Technical Skills:

    • Basic understanding of valve operation, including components such as seals, seats, actuators, and stems.
    • Familiarity with tools and equipment used for valve maintenance and installation, such as wrenches, torque tools, and pressure gauges.
    • Willingness to learn industry standards and valve testing procedures.
  3. Soft Skills:

    • Strong attention to detail, ensuring that all tasks are completed thoroughly and accurately.
    • Good communication skills for interacting with senior technicians, engineers, and other team members.
    • A proactive attitude toward learning new skills and developing technical expertise in the field.
    • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team to achieve goals.
  4. Certifications (Optional but Beneficial):

    • Any certification related to mechanical systems, valve maintenance, or industrial safety would be beneficial.
    • Basic safety certifications such as OSHA or any related safety training is an advantage.
