The Valve Sourcing Specialist (Mid-Level) is responsible for managing end-to-end sourcing activities for industrial valves and mechanical flow-control equipment across capital projects or operational procurement. The role focuses on identifying qualified suppliers, analyzing total cost of ownership, evaluating lead time reliability, and ensuring alignment with engineering specifications and corporate procurement standards. This position plays a key role in driving supply chain resilience, cost optimization, and supplier performance for critical mechanical components.
Conduct technical and commercial assessments of global and regional valve manufacturers based on product range, QA certifications (API, ASME, ISO), financial health, and past performance.
Drive supplier prequalification, audits, and AVL expansion in alignment with engineering and QA/QC functions.
Track supplier KPIs (on-time delivery, quality, responsiveness) and recommend sourcing risk mitigations or dual sourcing strategies.
Perform in-depth cost analysis across various valve types (gate, globe, butterfly, check, control valves, etc.) and sourcing regions.
Benchmark lead times and pricing trends to improve forecast accuracy and sourcing decisions.
Collaborate with finance and project controls to evaluate total landed cost, considering transport, customs, risk buffers, and warranty obligations.
Lead RFQ issuance for valve packages in projects or MRO contexts, ensuring full technical and commercial documentation inclusion.
Coordinate with engineering for technical queries, specification alignment, and compliance with datasheets and drawings.
Prepare Technical Bid Evaluations (TBEs), commercial comparisons, and negotiation decks for sourcing approvals.
Work closely with mechanical engineering, QA/QC, logistics, and project procurement to ensure all sourcing decisions meet technical, commercial, and schedule requirements.
Collaborate with expeditors and delivery planners to monitor progress on valve POs and proactively address supplier delays or risks.
Support supplier development programs and cost-reduction initiatives (e.g., localization, frame agreements, inventory optimization).
Bachelorβs degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Supply Chain Management (Required)
Certifications in sourcing or procurement (e.g., CIPS, ISM) are a plus
3β7 years of experience in mechanical or industrial equipment sourcing, with a strong focus on valves and engineered components
Experience in EPC projects, oil & gas, power, utilities, or water industries preferred
Strong knowledge of valve specifications and standards: API 6D, API 598, ASME B16.34, ISO 5208, NACE MR0175
Familiarity with supplier manufacturing processes, QA documentation (ITPs, FATs, MTCs)
Skilled in RFQ preparation, bid analysis, commercial negotiations, and TCO evaluation
Proficient in SAP, Oracle, Ariba, or similar ERP/sourcing platforms
Excellent MS Excel and data analysis capabilities for sourcing performance and pricing analysis
Commercial acumen and strategic thinking
Strong negotiation and communication skills
Ability to manage multiple procurement packages under tight schedules
Detail-oriented with a process-driven mindset
