The Junior Valve Sourcing Specialist plays a key support role in the strategic sourcing and procurement of industrial valves. This role is responsible for conducting supplier assessments, performing cost and lead time benchmarking, and supporting RFQ processes for a variety of mechanical components. The candidate will work closely with engineering, procurement, and QA teams to ensure sourcing efficiency, vendor compliance, and cost-effective procurement strategies.
Identify and screen suppliers of industrial valves and actuated systems based on capability, quality standards (API, ASME), and delivery performance.
Assist in maintaining the Approved Vendor List (AVL) with updated data on technical qualifications, audits, and commercial terms.
Support prequalification efforts, including the collection of ISO/API certifications and previous client references.
Collect and analyze supplier quotations to support cost benchmarking across regions and valve types (e.g., gate, globe, ball, butterfly, check valves).
Monitor standard and expedited lead times and identify best-value suppliers for ongoing or project-specific needs.
Contribute to the creation of sourcing dashboards or reports on pricing trends, delivery performance, and supplier responsiveness.
Prepare and issue RFQs under the supervision of a category lead, ensuring inclusion of correct technical documentation and terms.
Evaluate technical and commercial responses, create bid comparison sheets, and coordinate clarifications with suppliers and engineering.
Support Purchase Order initiation and ensure that sourcing data aligns with project requirements and ERP system inputs.
Liaise with engineering to verify valve specifications and datasheets before floating RFQs.
Coordinate with QA/QC for initial vendor audits, inspection requirements, and compliance documents.
Assist in post-order vendor follow-ups regarding document submission, delivery, or technical queries.
Bachelorβs degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Supply Chain Management (Required)
1β3 years of relevant work experience in sourcing, mechanical procurement, or vendor management, preferably with mechanical equipment or engineered products (e.g., valves, pumps, piping systems)
Basic knowledge of valve types, materials, and performance standards (API 6D, API 598, ASME B16.34)
Familiarity with sourcing and procurement workflows
Strong Excel skills for cost comparison, lead time tracking, and bid evaluation
Understanding of ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, etc.) and digital sourcing tools
Attention to detail, time management, and follow-through on supplier coordination
Good communication skills and a collaborative attitude
