Job Title: Valve Insulator

Job Summary:

We are looking for an experienced Senior Valve Insulator to join our maintenance team. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the installation, maintenance, and repair of valve insulation and associated systems. With your advanced skills and knowledge in mechanical insulation, you will be expected to lead projects, mentor junior and mid-level team members, and ensure that insulation work is completed to the highest standards of safety, quality, and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Valve Insulation Installation and Oversight:

    • Lead the installation of valve insulation and associated systems, ensuring that insulation is applied correctly to optimize thermal efficiency and energy conservation.
    • Oversee and perform the insulation of valves, flanges, piping, and other mechanical systems using a variety of insulation materials (e.g., fiberglass, mineral wool, calcium silicate).
    • Inspect and approve the work of junior and mid-level insulators, ensuring compliance with project specifications and industry standards.
  2. Maintenance and Repair:

    • Supervise and assist in the removal, replacement, and repair of insulation on valves and other components as part of routine maintenance or as needed during emergency repairs.
    • Conduct in-depth troubleshooting and diagnostic assessments of insulation systems to identify and resolve issues affecting system performance.
  3. Team Leadership and Mentorship:

    • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior and mid-level valve insulators, fostering skill development and ensuring best practices are followed.
    • Lead a team of insulators, ensuring efficient workflow, task delegation, and timely completion of assignments.
    • Train and supervise staff on the safe use of insulation materials and tools, including safety procedures related to working with high-temperature systems.
  4. Safety and Compliance:

    • Ensure all insulation work is performed in compliance with safety regulations and company policies, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to lock-out/tag-out protocols.
    • Conduct regular safety audits and report any hazards or non-compliance to the supervisor or manager.
    • Ensure that insulation materials meet industry standards for performance and safety.
  5. Quality Control and Inspection:

    • Perform detailed inspections of insulation work to ensure high-quality installation, proper material usage, and correct application methods.
    • Review and approve the work of other team members, ensuring consistency and meeting established standards.
  6. Project Management:

    • Lead or coordinate insulation-related projects, ensuring that deadlines, quality standards, and safety regulations are met.
    • Collaborate with other departments (e.g., mechanical, electrical, and safety teams) to ensure that insulation work aligns with overall maintenance and operational objectives.
    • Assist in planning material requirements and managing inventory of insulation materials to ensure timely and cost-effective project execution.
  7. Documentation and Reporting:

    • Maintain detailed records of work completed, including insulation material usage, project timelines, and any issues encountered during the installation process.
    • Prepare and submit inspection reports, maintenance logs, and work progress updates to management.
    • Contribute to the creation of procedures and documentation for improved insulation practices.
  8. Continuous Improvement:

    • Stay updated on the latest insulation materials, techniques, and industry standards to incorporate best practices into daily work.
    • Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost reductions related to valve insulation and recommend solutions to management.

Key Focus Areas:

Field Instrumentation: Assist in maintaining and calibrating field devices for accurate process control.

Troubleshooting: Learn basic fault diagnosis and support the resolution of issues in instrumentation systems.

Safety Compliance: Follow safety protocols and participate in training programs to ensure workplace safety.

Skill Development: Gain technical knowledge and experience in oil and gas field operations.

Qualifications and Skills:

  1. Educational Requirements:

    • High school diploma or equivalent.
    • Formal training or certification in mechanical insulation, industrial maintenance, or a related field is preferred.
  2. Experience:

    • 5+ years of experience in mechanical insulation, with a focus on valve insulation, piping systems, and industrial systems.
    • Proven track record of leading teams and managing complex insulation projects.
  3. Technical Skills:

    • Extensive knowledge of insulation materials (fiberglass, calcium silicate, mineral wool, etc.), insulation techniques, and valve/piping systems.
    • Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings, specifications, and insulation manuals.
    • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills for identifying and resolving insulation-related issues.
  4. Soft Skills:

    • Strong leadership and mentoring abilities with the capability to supervise and guide junior and mid-level staff.
    • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey instructions and provide feedback.
    • Strong organizational and time-management skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  5. Certifications (Preferred):

    • Certification in mechanical insulation or related fields.
    • OSHA or similar safety certifications for industrial environments.
    • Any additional qualifications in project management, mechanical systems, or thermal insulation are a plus.
