The VP of Global Sourcing โ Mechanical, Rotating, and Piping Systems will lead the global strategy and execution for sourcing complex mechanical equipment, rotating machinery, and piping systems across multiple projects, regions, and business units. This executive will be responsible for supplier development, contract negotiations, cost optimization, and risk mitigation for high-value and engineered components in sectors such as oil & gas, power generation, petrochemical, water, and industrial plant construction.
This role requires deep technical understanding, global supplier market knowledge, and a strategic approach to lifecycle sourcing, supplier qualification, and material availability for both standard and long-lead equipment.
Develop and lead a comprehensive global sourcing strategy for mechanical components, rotating equipment (pumps, compressors, turbines, etc.), and piping systems (valves, fittings, supports, etc.).
Align sourcing strategy with business goals, project timelines, CAPEX plans, and quality standards.
Oversee development of multi-year supplier partnerships to ensure continuity of supply and technical performance.
Define and manage sourcing categories including:
Rotating equipment: pumps, compressors, fans, turbines
Static equipment: heat exchangers, tanks, pressure vessels
Piping systems: pipes, valves, gaskets, flanges, fittings
Auxiliary systems: skid packages, utility modules
Establish category-specific KPIs, sourcing playbooks, and cost models.
Lead the creation and execution of technical bid evaluations (TBEs) and supplier selection based on engineering, delivery, and commercial criteria.
Build a qualified, diversified, and resilient global supplier base in key sourcing regions (Asia, MENA, Europe, Americas).
Conduct supplier audits, scorecards, and performance reviews to drive quality and on-time delivery.
Manage supply risk mitigation plans, including dual sourcing strategies, capacity buffers, and geopolitical considerations.
Drive cost savings initiatives through:
Total cost of ownership (TCO) analysis
Design-to-cost collaborations with engineering
Localization and global footprint optimization
Long-term price agreements and hedging strategies
Partner with engineering on value engineering (VE) and design standardization opportunities.
Collaborate with project teams, EPC partners, and engineering to ensure procurement aligns with scope, schedule, and risk profile.
Oversee procurement planning and expediting for all mechanical and rotating packages in capital projects.
Ensure accurate project forecasting, delivery milestones, and logistics coordination.
Lead implementation and utilization of global sourcing systems, including ERP (e.g., SAP, Oracle), SRM, and e-sourcing platforms.
Ensure compliance with corporate policies, ethical sourcing, trade regulations, and HSE standards.
Build and mentor a high-performing global sourcing team specializing in technical procurement for mechanical equipment and systems.
Promote cross-functional collaboration between procurement, engineering, QA/QC, logistics, and project controls.
Establish internal training and knowledge-sharing programs on sourcing strategies and category insights.
