The VP of Engineering for Aerospace Systems provides executive leadership and strategic direction for the design, development, and delivery of complex aerospace systems, including HVAC and Environmental Control Systems (ECS). This senior leadership role oversees multiple engineering departments, drives innovation and operational excellence, ensures alignment with corporate objectives, and maintains regulatory compliance. The VP partners closely with executive management, customers, and suppliers to deliver high-quality, safe, and reliable aerospace products.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and oversee all aerospace systems engineering functions, including mechanical, thermal, HVAC, ECS, electrical, and integration teams
Develop and execute engineering strategies that support company goals, product roadmaps, and market demands
Drive cross-functional collaboration between engineering, manufacturing, quality, program management, and supply chain teams
Provide executive oversight of HVAC and Environmental Control Systems programs, ensuring performance, safety, and regulatory compliance
Foster innovation in aerospace systems design, incorporating advanced technologies and sustainable practices
Establish engineering standards, best practices, and continuous improvement initiatives across teams
Manage budgeting, resource allocation, staffing, and talent development within engineering organizations
Represent engineering leadership in executive management meetings, customer presentations, and industry forums
Ensure compliance with aerospace certifications and quality standards such as FAA/EASA regulations, AS9100, and RTCA standards
Lead risk management efforts and oversee mitigation plans for technical, schedule, and cost risks
Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers, suppliers, regulatory bodies, and internal stakeholders

Qualifications & Skills:
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field (required)
Master’s degree or MBA (preferred)
Experience:
15+ years of progressive leadership experience in aerospace engineering, with at least 7–10 years in senior management roles
Proven track record managing complex aerospace system programs including HVAC, ECS, or related mechanical systems
Experience leading large multidisciplinary engineering teams and managing cross-functional projects
Technical Skills:
Deep understanding of aerospace system design, integration, certification, and manufacturing processes
Familiarity with HVAC/ECS technologies, thermal management, and aerospace environmental systems
Proficient with program management and engineering tools (e.g., MS Project, Primavera, PLM systems, CAD)
Knowledge of regulatory frameworks including FAA/EASA certification standards and AS9100 quality management
