The Mid-Level Turnaround/Shutdown Instrumentation Lead oversees the planning, coordination, and execution of instrumentation activities during plant shutdowns or turnarounds. The role includes supervising field teams, managing calibration/testing of instruments, and ensuring timely, safe, and quality completion of scope in alignment with project timelines and safety procedures.
Manage and supervise the removal, inspection, calibration, servicing, and reinstallation of field instruments (pressure, level, flow, temperature).
Lead teams in executing loop checks, signal testing, impulse line flushing, and instrument air line validation.
Coordinate shutdown activities related to control valves, transmitters, analyzers, and critical instrumentation.
Review work packs, P&IDs, loop diagrams, cable schedules, and instrument index to validate scope and resources.
Identify manpower, tools, consumables, and test equipment needed; verify readiness prior to execution.
Plan daily shutdown activities with clear job sequencing and safety measures.
Ensure all instrumentation work is carried out under valid PTW (Permit to Work), isolation certificates, and LOTO procedures.
Enforce compliance with site safety procedures, hazardous area classifications, and PPE protocols.
Conduct toolbox talks, hazard analysis (JSA), and risk mitigation for field jobs.
Ensure adherence to instrument calibration standards (ISA, IEC) and quality control protocols.
Supervise and record test results: IR test, continuity, loop test, functional checks.
Maintain and submit calibration records, loop folders, and punch list closures to QA/QC and client teams.
Lead and coordinate a team of technicians, fitters, and vendors during shutdown execution.
Interface with electrical, mechanical, operations, and HSE teams to align shutdown activities.
