Job Title: Turbine Rigger

Job Summary:

The Fresher Turbine Rigger is responsible for assisting in the installation, maintenance, and repair of turbine equipment in industrial settings. This entry-level role involves learning and gaining hands-on experience in the safe and efficient rigging of turbines, motors, generators, and associated mechanical systems. The Turbine Rigger will work under the supervision of senior riggers or engineers to ensure proper alignment, safety, and performance of turbine components during installation or repair.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Assisting with Turbine Installation:

    • Help in the rigging and lifting of turbine components using cranes, hoists, and other rigging equipment.
    • Assist in the assembly and alignment of turbines, motors, and generators under the supervision of experienced riggers and engineers.
    • Support the setup of tools and equipment for turbine installation projects, ensuring all necessary materials are available.
  2. Lifting and Rigging Operations:

    • Assist in the lifting, positioning, and securing of turbine parts using appropriate rigging methods and equipment.
    • Follow safety procedures and rigging standards to ensure the safe handling and movement of turbine components.
    • Help in preparing and inspecting lifting plans, rigging equipment, and tools to ensure their functionality and safety.
  3. Safety Compliance:

    • Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures to ensure personal safety and the safety of others during turbine rigging operations.
    • Assist in conducting routine inspections of rigging equipment to ensure it is in good working condition.
    • Follow the guidance of senior riggers and engineers to identify and mitigate any safety hazards during turbine installations.
  4. Maintenance and Repairs:

    • Support maintenance teams in disassembling, inspecting, and repairing turbine components as needed.
    • Assist in the removal and replacement of damaged or worn turbine parts, ensuring minimal downtime.
    • Help in conducting routine maintenance and inspections to ensure turbines are functioning properly.
  5. Documentation and Reporting:

    • Keep accurate records of turbine rigging activities, including lifting plans, rigging checklists, and inspection reports.
    • Assist in preparing daily progress reports for turbine installation or maintenance projects.
    • Document any issues or challenges encountered during turbine rigging and report them to senior engineers.
  6. Collaboration and Teamwork:

    • Work closely with senior riggers, engineers, and maintenance teams to complete turbine installation and maintenance projects.
    • Participate in team meetings to discuss project progress, challenges, and safety concerns.
    • Help other team members with tasks as needed, providing support to ensure the completion of tasks on time and according to specifications.
  7. Learning and Development:

    • Continuously develop technical skills and knowledge related to turbine rigging, lifting techniques, and safety practices.
    • Participate in training sessions to enhance rigging skills, safety awareness, and mechanical understanding.
    • Learn about turbine assembly, installation, and maintenance practices to build proficiency in rigging operations.

Skills and Knowledge Required:

  • Basic understanding of rigging principles, mechanical systems, and turbine equipment.
  • Familiarity with safety protocols and personal protective equipment (PPE) used in rigging operations.
  • Willingness to learn and develop hands-on experience in turbine rigging and mechanical maintenance.
  • Ability to follow instructions carefully and work under the supervision of senior riggers and engineers.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to performing tasks with accuracy and safety.
  • Good communication skills to collaborate with team members and report issues or challenges.

Key Focus Areas:

Field Instrumentation: Assist in maintaining and calibrating field devices for accurate process control.

Troubleshooting: Learn basic fault diagnosis and support the resolution of issues in instrumentation systems.

Safety Compliance: Follow safety protocols and participate in training programs to ensure workplace safety.

Skill Development: Gain technical knowledge and experience in oil and gas field operations.

Educational Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (minimum requirement).
  • Basic technical coursework or certifications related to rigging, mechanical systems, or safety practices is beneficial but not required.

Experience:

  • No prior professional experience required.
  • Any exposure to rigging operations, mechanical work, or industrial settings through internships, workshops, or academic projects is a plus but not mandatory.

Tools and Technologies:

  • Basic knowledge of rigging tools and equipment, such as cranes, hoists, slings, shackles, and lifting beams.
  • Familiarity with basic mechanical tools and equipment used in turbine maintenance and assembly.
  • Exposure to safety equipment and practices related to turbine installation and maintenance operations.

Other Requirements:

  • Strong willingness to learn and develop technical skills in turbine rigging and mechanical systems.
  • Ability to work in physically demanding environments, including lifting, moving, and positioning heavy turbine components.
  • Willingness to work in teams and collaborate effectively with colleagues in a fast-paced environment.
