The Senior Turbine Engineer is a subject matter expert responsible for leading the operation, maintenance, reliability, and performance optimization of steam, gas, and hydro turbines. This role drives strategic engineering decisions, leads major overhauls, oversees root cause analyses, and mentors junior team members. The position requires strong leadership, technical acumen, and cross-functional collaboration to ensure high availability, efficiency, and safety of critical rotating equipment in power generation facilities.
Strategic Maintenance Oversight
Lead planning, execution, and supervision of major turbine overhauls and lifecycle maintenance.
Define maintenance strategies (RBI, CBM, TPM) to improve reliability and reduce unplanned downtime.
Turbine Performance & Optimization
Analyze turbine operational data to identify efficiency losses, thermal imbalances, or degradation trends.
Implement corrective actions and performance upgrades (e.g., blade path optimization, seal system improvement).
Engineering & Design Review
Review and approve engineering modifications, part replacements, and retrofit solutions.
Validate OEM recommendations and ensure alignment with plant operational goals.
Root Cause Analysis & Troubleshooting
Lead root cause investigations of mechanical failures, vibration anomalies, and operational disruptions.
Collaborate with OEMs, reliability engineers, and site teams to resolve chronic issues.
Project Leadership
Manage technical aspects of turbine installation, major overhauls, and plant upgrade projects.
Develop project scopes, technical specifications, and vendor evaluations.
Mentoring & Team Development
Provide technical mentorship to junior and mid-level turbine engineers and technicians.
Conduct training sessions on turbine diagnostics, safety practices, and engineering best practices.
Compliance & Documentation
Ensure adherence to industry standards (ASME, API, IEC) and environmental/safety regulations.
Maintain and review documentation including inspection reports, maintenance logs, and engineering records.

Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
Experience: 8–15 years of experience in turbine engineering (steam/gas/hydro) within power generation or heavy industry
Certifications: Preferred – OEM training (GE, Siemens, MHPS), Project Management (PMP), or Reliability Certifications (e.g., CMRP)
Expert knowledge of turbine thermodynamics, rotor dynamics, seal systems, and auxiliary equipment
Skilled in interpreting vibration data, thermal imaging, borescope findings, and clearance measurements
Proficient in CMMS, RCA tools, and technical software (e.g., ANSYS, SAP, PI System)
Strong project management and vendor coordination abilities
Excellent communication, leadership, and documentation skills
Power plant-based with required field inspections and occasional travel to OEM or vendor sites
Involvement in emergency callouts, plant shutdowns, and extended work hours during critical outages
Mandatory use of PPE and strict adherence to HSE policies
