Job Title: Turbine Controls Engineer
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Turbine Controls Engineer to lead our control systems engineering initiatives for turbine operations. In this role, you will be responsible for designing and optimizing advanced control architectures, managing complex projects, and mentoring a team of engineers. Your expertise will ensure that our turbine control systems achieve peak efficiency, reliability, and safety while driving innovation and continuous improvement across our operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Control System Design & Optimization:
- Lead the development of advanced control system architectures for turbine operations using state-of-the-art PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA platforms.
- Design, program, and refine control algorithms to optimize turbine performance and ensure precise operational control.
- Evaluate and integrate new technologies and control strategies to enhance system reliability and efficiency.
Project Leadership & Management:
- Manage and oversee complex turbine control projects from concept through commissioning, ensuring projects meet technical, schedule, and budget requirements.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams including mechanical, electrical, and turbine engineering to ensure seamless integration of control systems.
- Develop project plans, track progress, and report on performance metrics and key deliverables to senior management.
Advanced Troubleshooting & Continuous Improvement:
- Provide expert-level troubleshooting support for resolving complex control system issues, using advanced diagnostic tools and methodologies.
- Lead root cause analysis investigations and implement corrective actions to mitigate recurring problems.
- Develop and enforce best practices, maintenance protocols, and preventive strategies to optimize system performance.
Mentorship & Technical Leadership:
- Mentor and coach junior and mid-level engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement.
- Lead design reviews, technical workshops, and cross-functional team meetings to drive innovation and share expertise.
- Stay current on industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory requirements to ensure our control systems remain cutting-edge.
Documentation & Stakeholder Communication:
- Prepare and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including control system designs, test protocols, and commissioning reports.
- Present technical findings, project updates, and strategic recommendations to stakeholders and senior management.
- Ensure all control system modifications comply with industry standards and safety regulations.

Qualifications and Skills:
Educational Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, Automation, or a related field.
- Advanced coursework or certifications in industrial automation, process control, or turbine technology are highly desirable.
Experience:
- 7-10+ years of professional experience in control system design, programming, and troubleshooting, preferably within turbine or similar industrial applications.
- Proven track record of leading complex projects and managing multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Extensive experience with PLC programming, HMI configuration, and SCADA systems.
Skills:
- Expert proficiency with control system design and simulation tools (e.g., MATLAB, LabVIEW, or similar).
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, and system documentation.
- Strong project management and organizational skills.
Certifications (Preferred):
- Relevant industry certifications or training in control systems, automation, or industrial instrumentation are advantageous.
- Basic safety certifications (e.g., OSHA, First Aid/CPR) are required; additional certifications in turbine technology or a Professional Engineering (PE) license are a plus.
