Job Title: Turbine Controls Engineer

Job Summary:

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Junior Turbine Controls Engineer to join our engineering team. This entry-level role is ideal for candidates with foundational knowledge or internships in control systems and automation, and an interest in turbine operations. You will work under the guidance of experienced engineers to support the design, programming, and troubleshooting of turbine control systems, helping to ensure safe and efficient turbine performance.

Key Responsibilities:

Control System Development & Programming:

  • Assist in configuring and programming control systems for turbine operations using PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA platforms.
  • Support the development and testing of control algorithms and software, ensuring system parameters meet design requirements.
  • Collaborate on the design and documentation of control schematics and technical specifications.

Testing & Commissioning:

  • Participate in system testing, calibration, and commissioning of turbine control systems.
  • Help identify and troubleshoot control system issues during start-up and routine operations.
  • Support the validation of system performance through data collection and analysis.

Documentation & Reporting:

  • Assist in preparing technical documentation, including control system designs, test procedures, and commissioning reports.
  • Maintain accurate records of system configurations, modifications, and maintenance activities.
  • Document troubleshooting steps and outcomes to support continuous improvement initiatives.

Collaboration & Continuous Learning:

  • Work closely with senior engineers and multidisciplinary teams to integrate control systems with turbine operations.
  • Engage in on-the-job training to develop advanced skills in control systems, automation, and turbine technology.
  • Participate in team meetings and technical reviews to contribute ideas for process improvement.

  • Control System Implementation: Develop and refine skills in programming and configuring turbine control systems.
  • System Validation: Focus on testing, calibrating, and troubleshooting control systems to ensure optimal performance.
  • Technical Documentation: Emphasize accurate record-keeping and clear communication of technical data.
  • Continuous Learning: Build expertise in automation, control theory, and turbine technology through hands-on experience.
  • Team Collaboration: Work effectively with cross-functional teams to support integrated turbine operations.

Qualifications and Skills:

Educational Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, Automation, or a related field.
  • Relevant coursework or academic projects in control systems, automation, or turbine technology are advantageous.

Experience:

  • 1-3 years of internships, academic projects, or lab experience in control systems or automation is preferred.
  • Entry-level candidates with a strong interest in turbine controls and a willingness to learn are encouraged to apply.

Skills:

  • Basic knowledge of PLC programming and control system principles.
  • Familiarity with software tools for control system design and simulation (e.g., MATLAB, LabVIEW) is beneficial.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Eagerness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced engineering setting.

Certifications (Preferred):

  • Relevant certifications or training in control systems and automation are a plus.
  • Basic safety certifications (e.g., OSHA, First Aid/CPR) are beneficial but not required.
