We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Thermal Spray/Coating Technician to assist in applying protective coatings to turbine components using thermal spray processes such as plasma spray, HVOF, or arc spray. This entry-level role is ideal for individuals who are beginning their career in surface engineering or industrial coatings and are eager to learn and grow within a technical, high-precision environment.
Support the setup and operation of thermal spray equipment to apply coatings on turbine parts (e.g., blades, vanes, nozzles).
Assist in surface preparation tasks, including cleaning, grit blasting, masking, and fixture setup.
Monitor spray parameters (e.g., gas flow, temperature, distance) under supervision to ensure coating quality.
Perform post-coating operations such as de-masking, inspection support, and basic finishing.
Follow work instructions, safety protocols, and process sheets in compliance with quality standards.
Assist in maintaining equipment cleanliness and performing basic maintenance on spray systems.
Document daily work activity, track parts, and support production records in line with quality procedures.
Learn about coating material types, defect identification, and process control under the guidance of senior technicians.
Coating Application Support
Assist in the thermal spray process to apply wear-, corrosion-, or heat-resistant coatings on turbine parts.
Surface Preparation & Finishing
Support masking, grit blasting, and cleaning operations for optimal coating adhesion and finish.
Process Monitoring & Safety
Monitor spray booth conditions and adhere strictly to PPE and HSE guidelines during coating operations.
Learning & Skill Development
Gain hands-on experience in plasma spray and HVOF techniques while progressing toward greater independence.
Documentation & Traceability
Maintain basic records of work performed and support inspection or QA documentation requirements.
High school diploma, technical certificate, or vocational training in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Surface Engineering.
0–2 years of experience in thermal spray coating, metal finishing, or related industrial processes.
Basic understanding of mechanical or surface treatment processes.
Ability to follow technical instructions and maintain focus in a production environment.
Good manual dexterity and attention to detail.
Strong willingness to learn and grow under supervision.
Physically able to work in high-temperature, noisy environments with proper PPE.
Exposure to thermal spray processes (plasma, HVOF, arc wire) through coursework, internship, or entry-level role.
Familiarity with turbine or aerospace component handling.
Knowledge of coating materials such as ceramics, carbides, or metallic alloys is a plus.
