Job Title: Test Engineer (Mechanical Focus)

Job Summary:

We are seeking a Fresher Test Engineer with a Mechanical Focus to join our engineering team. In this entry-level role, you will assist in the testing, validation, and analysis of mechanical systems, components, and products to ensure they meet the required specifications and quality standards. You will work under the guidance of senior engineers and gain hands-on experience with testing processes, test equipment, and the overall validation lifecycle. Key Responsibilities:

  1. Assisting with Mechanical Testing:

    • Assist in conducting tests on mechanical components and systems, including strength, durability, and performance tests, to verify compliance with design specifications and industry standards.
    • Prepare test setups, ensuring all test equipment is calibrated and functioning correctly before conducting tests.
    • Support the execution of various test procedures, including mechanical stress, vibration, thermal, and fatigue tests, under the supervision of senior engineers.
  2. Data Collection and Analysis:

    • Assist in collecting and recording test data, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
    • Use testing tools and software to analyze test data, looking for trends or anomalies that could indicate performance issues or areas for improvement.
    • Help prepare test reports summarizing results, observations, and recommendations.
  3. Test Equipment Management:

    • Learn how to use and operate various test equipment, including universal testing machines, strain gauges, and other mechanical testing tools.
    • Ensure test equipment is properly maintained, calibrated, and functioning according to company standards.
    • Assist in troubleshooting minor issues with testing equipment and coordinate with senior engineers for more complex issues.
  4. Collaboration with Other Teams:

    • Work closely with design, quality control, and production teams to ensure test results align with product requirements and design specifications.
    • Communicate testing needs and results effectively with senior engineers and other team members to drive continuous improvement in product development.
    • Assist in reviewing product designs and specifications to ensure they are testable and meet required standards.
  5. Documentation and Reporting:

    • Maintain accurate records of test results, test conditions, and any discrepancies or issues that arise during testing.
    • Assist in preparing detailed reports for senior engineers, managers, and clients, including test methodologies, data, results, and conclusions.
    • Ensure all documentation is completed on time and complies with industry standards and company policies.
  6. Learning and Development:

    • Participate in training sessions to develop a strong understanding of mechanical systems and test engineering best practices.
    • Continuously improve technical knowledge and testing skills, keeping up-to-date with new testing techniques, tools, and industry trends.
    • Take on new tasks and responsibilities as you develop your skills and knowledge in the field.

  1. Mechanical Testing:

    • Learn to conduct tests on mechanical components, assemblies, and systems to validate their performance, durability, and reliability.
  2. Data Collection and Analysis:

    • Collect and analyze test data to ensure that mechanical systems perform according to design specifications.
  3. Test Equipment Familiarization:

    • Learn how to operate and maintain various testing equipment and tools used in mechanical testing.
  4. Collaboration with Engineering Teams:

    • Work with various engineering teams to ensure test results are incorporated into the development process and product improvement.
  5. Documentation and Reporting:

    • Assist in preparing clear and detailed reports on test results, supporting the product development process and ensuring compliance with quality standards.

Qualifications and Skills:

  1. Educational Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Systems, or a related field.
    • Recent graduates with no or limited experience in testing are encouraged to apply.
  2. Technical Skills:

    • Basic understanding of mechanical systems, components, and their performance characteristics.
    • Familiarity with common testing tools and equipment used in mechanical testing (e.g., tensile testing machines, thermometers, pressure gauges) is an advantage.
    • Proficiency in using MS Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) for reporting and data analysis.
  3. Soft Skills:

    • Strong attention to detail and the ability to identify small discrepancies or issues in test results.
    • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot minor issues with test equipment or procedures.
    • Good communication skills, both verbal and written, to report test findings clearly to senior engineers and team members.
    • Ability to work well in a team and learn from more experienced engineers.
  4. Certifications (Optional but Beneficial):

    • Any certifications related to mechanical testing, quality control, or engineering tools is a plus.
    • Safety training or certifications (e.g., OSHA) would be beneficial but not required.
