Roles & Responsibilities

Job Title: Test Engineer

Job Summary:

We are seeking a Junior Test Engineer (Aerospace) to join our testing team. In this role, you will assist in the testing and validation of aerospace systems, components, and subsystems to ensure they meet the necessary performance, safety, and regulatory standards. You will work under the guidance of senior engineers to develop a deep understanding of aerospace testing procedures, tools, and industry standards. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate or someone with limited experience in the aerospace industry to gain hands-on experience and grow within the aerospace engineering field.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Test Setup and Execution:

    • Assist in the setup and operation of test equipment for aerospace components, including vibration shakers, thermal chambers, pressure rigs, and data acquisition systems.
    • Participate in executing various tests, including environmental, stress, vibration, and thermal testing for avionics, propulsion systems, airframes, and other components.
    • Support the preparation of test specimens and ensure they meet required specifications before beginning the test.
  2. Data Collection and Monitoring:

    • Monitor and document test parameters, ensuring data is collected accurately and on time during testing.
    • Assist in real-time data acquisition during tests and help ensure that all readings are recorded and meet expected standards.
    • Perform basic analysis and preliminary review of test data to identify trends or discrepancies.
  3. Test Reporting:

    • Help prepare detailed test reports that summarize test conditions, methodologies, results, and any issues or observations encountered during the tests.
    • Document and file test data, results, and supporting materials, ensuring that all records are clear, organized, and compliant with regulatory and company standards.
    • Assist senior engineers in writing test summaries and preparing presentations to share findings with other teams or stakeholders.
  4. Test Equipment Maintenance and Calibration:

    • Assist in maintaining and calibrating testing equipment, ensuring it is functioning correctly and safely.
    • Report any malfunctions or issues with equipment to senior engineers or the maintenance team for resolution.
    • Help with the setup and calibration of instruments for new tests or new equipment being tested.
  5. Collaboration with Cross-functional Teams:

    • Work closely with design engineers, systems engineers, and manufacturing teams to ensure that testing aligns with the needs of product development and integration.
    • Participate in regular meetings and test reviews with senior engineers and other team members to evaluate progress and troubleshoot any issues.
  6. Compliance with Safety and Industry Standards:

    • Follow all safety protocols during testing, ensuring that the work environment is safe and compliant with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
    • Ensure that all tests are conducted in compliance with aerospace industry standards (e.g., FAA, ISO, MIL-SPEC) and regulatory requirements.
    • Help ensure that proper safety equipment (PPE) is used during tests, and assist in identifying any hazards before or during testing.
  7. Learning and Skill Development:

    • Participate in on-the-job training and mentorship under senior engineers to improve your knowledge and skills in aerospace testing.
    • Continuously learn and develop expertise in the use of testing tools, industry standards, and best practices for aerospace component testing.
    • Take the initiative to expand your knowledge of aerospace systems, components, and testing methodologies to improve your testing capabilities.

Key Focus Areas:

Aerodynamics:
  • Assist in optimizing aerodynamic systems for aircraft or spacecraft performance using modeling software.
Propulsion Systems:
  • Contribute to the development and testing of propulsion systems, focusing on efficiency and reliability.
Structural Engineering:
  • Design and test structural components to ensure strength, durability, and safety.
Systems Integration:
  • Support integration of mechanical, electrical, and avionics systems to ensure seamless operation.
Stress and Fatigue Analysis:
  • Perform analysis on components to ensure they can withstand operational stresses and fatigue.
Quality Assurance & Control:
  • Ensure adherence to industry standards through inspections, testing protocols, and quality control procedures.

Qualifications and Skills:

  1. Educational Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
    • Fresh graduates or those 1-2 years of prior professional experience are encouraged to apply.
  2. Technical Skills:

    • Basic understanding of aerospace systems and components.
    • Familiarity with test equipment (e.g., vibration testing rigs, thermal chambers, and pressure testing equipment) is a plus.
    • Basic knowledge of data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, MATLAB) for interpreting test results.
    • Willingness to learn about aerospace testing protocols and best practices.
  3. Soft Skills:

    • Strong attention to detail, ensuring that tests are conducted accurately and that data is recorded correctly.
    • Good communication skills to report findings and collaborate effectively with team members.
    • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to identify discrepancies or issues in test results.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team to achieve goals and meet deadlines.
  4. Certifications (Optional but Beneficial):

    • Any certifications related to safety, testing procedures, or quality assurance in aerospace engineering are a plus.
