Job Title: Temperature Calibration Engineer

Job Summary:

The Junior Temperature Calibration Engineer is responsible for performing calibration, testing, and maintenance of temperature measurement devices such as thermocouples, RTDs, and temperature controllers. This role requires the ability to independently handle routine calibration tasks while adhering to quality standards and safety protocols. The Junior Engineer plays a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and reliability of temperature systems.

Key Responsibilities:

Calibration and Testing:

  • Conduct routine calibration of temperature instruments such as thermocouples, RTDs, and infrared sensors.
  • Test and verify the performance of temperature transmitters and controllers using standard calibration equipment like dry-block calibrators and temperature baths.
  • Address and resolve minor deviations or issues during calibration processes.

Documentation:

  • Accurately document calibration results, including data logs, test reports, and calibration certificates.
  • Ensure all documentation complies with ISO 17025 and organizational quality management systems.

Maintenance and Troubleshooting:

  • Perform preventive maintenance on calibration equipment to ensure optimal functionality.
  • Assist in troubleshooting and resolving common issues in temperature measurement devices.

Compliance and Safety:

  • Adhere to safety protocols and regulatory requirements during all calibration activities.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards such as ISO 17025 and ISO 9001 in calibration tasks.

Team Collaboration:

  • Work closely with senior engineers to address technical challenges and improve calibration processes.
  • Provide support to cross-functional teams for projects requiring calibrated temperature systems.

Skills and Knowledge Required:

  • Solid understanding of temperature measurement principles and devices, including thermocouples, RTDs, and thermal sensors.
  • Proficiency in using calibration equipment such as temperature baths, dry-block calibrators, and data loggers.
  • Familiarity with quality and calibration standards like ISO 17025 and their application in calibration processes.
  • Basic troubleshooting skills for identifying and resolving issues in temperature systems.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain high levels of accuracy in calibration tasks.

Educational Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Instrumentation Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Certification in temperature calibration or metrology is an advantage.

Experience:

  • 1-3 years of experience in temperature calibration or a related field.
  • Hands-on experience with calibration tools and temperature measurement equipment is required.

Key Focus Areas:

  • Water Purification and Treatment Systems Control:

    Performing calibration and maintenance of temperature sensors and control systems used in water treatment processes.
  • Assisting in the optimization of temperature control for enhanced system efficiency and reliability.
  • Environmental and Regulatory Compliance:

    Ensuring temperature calibration processes adhere to environmental standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Preparing and maintaining detailed documentation of calibration activities and compliance data for audits and inspections.
  • Monitoring of Water Quality:

    Conducting temperature-based monitoring to support water quality assessments, such as the influence of temperature on pH and chlorine levels.
  • Identifying and addressing temperature-related inconsistencies in water treatment processes to maintain system integrity.

Tools and Equipment:

  • Dry-block calibrators, temperature baths, infrared thermometers, digital thermometers, and data logging systems.

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills to collaborate effectively with peers and supervisors.
  • Commitment to adhering to safety protocols and maintaining high-quality calibration standards.
  • Willingness to learn advanced techniques and stay updated on emerging trends in temperature calibration.
