Fresher - Telecommunications Specialist 

Job Summary: 

An entry-level role designed for recent graduates or individuals with minimal experience. The Fresher Telecommunications Specialist works under close supervision to learn the fundamentals of telecommunication systems including VoIP, PBX, fiber optics, and wireless communications. The role focuses on gaining hands-on experience in installation, maintenance, and basic troubleshooting. 

Key Responsibilities

Installation & Configuration: 

○ Assist in installing and configuring basic telecommunication equipment such as routers, switches, VoIP phones, and PBX systems. 

○ Learn to set up network cabling, fiber optic links, and wireless access points. 

Maintenance & Troubleshooting: 

○ Support routine maintenance tasks and help troubleshoot minor issues in voice, video, and data communication systems. 

○ Perform basic tests (using cable testers, multimeters) to ensure system integrity. 

● Documentation & Reporting: 

○ Document system configurations, test outcomes, and service logs. 

○ Assist in creating and maintaining network diagrams and asset inventories. 

● Learning & Development: 

○ Participate in structured training sessions and on-the-job learning. 

○ Stay updated on industry best practices and emerging telecommunication trends. 

Support Tasks: 

○ Provide first-line support to end-users during scheduled maintenance or minor outages. 

Skills and Knowledge Required: 

● Basic understanding of analog/digital signaling, VoIP, and PBX fundamentals. 

● Familiarity with telecom protocols (e.g., SIP, H.323) and basic IT networking concepts. 

● Ability to operate standard diagnostic tools (cable testers, multimeters). 

● Strong willingness to learn, with good communication and documentation skills. 

● Basic knowledge of IP addressing, VLANs, and cabling standards. 

Educational Qualifications: 

● Bachelor’s degree (or diploma) in Telecommunications, Electronics, IT, or a related field. 

● Entry-level certifications (e.g., CompTIA IT Fundamentals, Cisco Certified Entry Networking Technician - CCT) are a plus. 

Experience: 

● 0-1 year of relevant experience in telecommunications or IT support. 

Tools and Equipment: 

● Basic telecommunication diagnostic tools. 

● Network simulation and documentation software (e.g., Packet Tracer, Visio). 

Other Requirements: 

● Strong initiative and eagerness to develop technical skills. 

● Ability to work in a team and follow detailed instructions. 

● Flexible schedule for on-call support if required.
