Job Title: Senior - Telecom Infrastructure Specialist

Job Summary

The Senior Telecom Infrastructure Specialist is responsible for overseeing the design, implementation, and optimization of telecom infrastructure systems. This role requires expertise in complex network architectures, the ability to troubleshoot high-level issues, and strong leadership skills to mentor junior and mid-level staff. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of telecom technologies and a proven track record in managing large-scale projects while ensuring alignment with organizational goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and architecture of advanced telecom infrastructure systems, including fiber optic networks, wireless systems, and data centers.
  • Manage and oversee large-scale telecom infrastructure projects, ensuring they meet client requirements, deadlines, and budget constraints.
  • Provide advanced troubleshooting and support for complex network and system issues, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal performance.
  • Optimize telecom infrastructure for scalability, security, and performance, identifying opportunities for future upgrades or improvements.
  • Develop and enforce best practices for network and system maintenance, ensuring high availability and reliability across all telecom services.
  • Mentor junior and mid-level staff, providing guidance on technical issues and career development to foster a knowledgeable team.
  • Collaborate with senior management and other departments to align telecom infrastructure strategies with organizational goals and initiatives.
  • Conduct risk assessments and implement strategies to mitigate infrastructure-related risks, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.

Skills and Knowledge Required

  • Extensive knowledge of telecom infrastructure design, including fiber optics, wireless systems, and hybrid networks.
  • Advanced troubleshooting and diagnostic skills for high-level telecom network and system issues.
  • Expertise in IP networking, BGP, OSPF, MPLS, and other network protocols.
  • Deep understanding of telecom security, including firewalls, VPNs, and encryption technologies.
  • Strong leadership and project management skills, with the ability to manage large-scale projects and cross-functional teams effectively.
  • Experience with telecom system performance optimization, capacity planning, and service-level agreements (SLAs).
  • Ability to stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies in telecom infrastructure.

Educational Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Telecommunications, Network Engineering, or a related field.
  • Advanced certifications (e.g., CCNP, CCIE, Fiber Optics Expert) are highly desirable.

Key Focus Areas

  • Leading complex telecom infrastructure projects and system designs.
  • Optimizing and troubleshooting high-level telecom network issues.
  • Mentoring junior and mid-level staff to build a strong, knowledgeable team.

Experience

  • 7+ years of experience in telecom infrastructure, including substantial experience with large-scale network design and management.

Tools and Equipment

  • Advanced network management and monitoring software.
  • Fiber optic testing and splicing equipment.
  • High-end routers, switches, and other telecom infrastructure devices.
  • Security tools for telecom infrastructure protection.
