The Technical Buyer (Mid-Level) is responsible for independently managing the end-to-end procurement process for valves and mechanical equipment in accordance with project requirements and engineering specifications. This role requires experience with SAP or other ERP systems, strong technical understanding of mechanical components, and the ability to evaluate and manage supplier performance.
Prepare, issue, and manage RFQs and RFPs for valves (e.g., gate, globe, check, ball) and mechanical components (e.g., pumps, actuators, fittings).
Perform detailed bid evaluations covering cost, delivery, and technical alignment.
Negotiate pricing, commercial terms, and payment conditions with suppliers.
Place and manage POs in SAP/ERP and ensure timely follow-up on order confirmations and shipments.
Interpret engineering BOMs, MTOs, and datasheets to validate procurement needs.
Liaise with engineering, QA/QC, and inspection teams to ensure compliance with standards (API 6D, ASME B16.34, ISO 9001).
Review vendor documentation packages, including ITPs, material certificates, and drawings.
Monitor supplier performance on quality, delivery, and responsiveness.
Identify and qualify new suppliers as per project and company criteria.
Maintain long-term supplier relationships and lead cost-saving or value-engineering initiatives.
Maintain accurate PO tracking, vendor records, and pricing history in SAP/MM or other ERP modules.
Generate procurement reports, material status logs, and forecasted order plans for stakeholders.
Ensure proper contract compliance and document control.
Bachelorβs degree in Mechanical Engineering, Procurement, or Industrial Engineering (Required)
Procurement certification (e.g., CIPS Level 3/4, PMP, or APICS) is an advantage
3β6 years in procurement or technical buying of valves and mechanical equipment in EPC, industrial, or energy projects
Proficient in SAP MM or a comparable ERP platform
Deep understanding of valve types, specifications, and industrial codes
Strong negotiation and vendor evaluation skills
Proficient in SAP (Material Management), Excel, and procurement tracking tools
Familiarity with QA/QC requirements and supplier inspection processes
Excellent communication, multitasking, and stakeholder coordination abilities
