The Junior Technical Buyer is responsible for supporting the procurement of valves, piping components, and mechanical equipment using SAP/ERP platforms. This role involves reviewing technical specifications, issuing RFQs, coordinating with vendors and engineering teams, and managing purchasing workflows to ensure quality and timely delivery.
Prepare and issue RFQs for valves, flanges, actuators, and mechanical parts in line with engineering and project requirements.
Compare supplier offers for cost, delivery time, and technical compliance.
Create and maintain purchase orders in SAP/ERP and follow up on supplier deliveries.
Review engineering specifications, datasheets, and MTOs for completeness and procurement readiness.
Liaise with engineering to clarify technical details and ensure supplier compliance with API, ASME, and ISO standards.
Negotiate basic commercial terms with vendors under supervision.
Track order confirmations, manage delivery timelines, and escalate delays.
Communicate with QA/QC, logistics, and warehouse teams for material receipt and inspection status.
Maintain supplier records, including past performance, pricing, and non-conformance history.
Ensure accurate material master data and PO tracking in SAP/ERP systems.
Support reporting on procurement KPIs, delivery performance, and cost trends.
Bachelorβs degree in Mechanical Engineering, Procurement, or related technical field (Required)
1β3 years of experience in technical buying or procurement, preferably in valves, rotating/static equipment, or EPC projects
Hands-on experience with SAP MM or similar ERP systems is a plus
Working knowledge of mechanical equipment and valve types (e.g., gate, globe, ball, butterfly)
Familiarity with international standards (API 6D, ASME B16.5, ISO 9001)
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and procurement tools
Strong organizational, communication, and negotiation skills
Ability to manage multiple orders and deadlines with attention to detail
