The Senior Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) is a subject matter expert responsible for leading supplier quality assurance for valve systems across the global supply base. This role ensures compliance with industry standards (API 6D, ISO 9001, ASME Section VIII, IX), drives supplier performance improvement, and provides leadership in audit programs, root cause analysis, and technical quality requirements for critical mechanical components.
Lead the development and implementation of supplier quality programs for valves and pressure-containing equipment.
Ensure robust quality controls across supplier operations, with a focus on compliance with API, ISO, ASME, and client-specific standards.
Manage high-risk supplier evaluations, quality risk assessments, and critical part validation processes.
Oversee the review and approval of supplier documentation: ITPs, MTCs, weld maps, hydrostatic test reports, dimensional checks, and NDE results.
Supervise supplier audits (both remote and onsite) and drive closure of NCRs and CAPAs related to valve performance or compliance failures.
Serve as the quality gatekeeper during supplier onboarding, qualification, and continuous monitoring.
Partner with Engineering, Procurement, and Manufacturing to ensure product and process conformance from initial RFQ through final delivery.
Mentor and coach junior SQEs and provide technical guidance on QA/QC matters.
Facilitate supplier improvement initiatives using tools like Six Sigma, FMEA, PPAP, and APQP.
Analyze supplier quality data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
Present quarterly supplier scorecards and quality performance KPIs to executive stakeholders.
Contribute to strategic sourcing decisions by providing technical insights into supplier capabilities and risks.
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Quality Engineering, or similar (Required)
Master’s degree and certifications such as CQA, API Q1/Q2, or Lead Auditor ISO 9001/14001 are highly preferred
7+ years in supplier quality engineering or QA/QC roles focused on mechanical/valve systems
Proven experience with international suppliers, audits, and standards compliance (API, ISO, ASME)
Deep understanding of valve manufacturing processes, metallurgy, NDT, pressure testing, and machining
Strong leadership and decision-making in high-pressure quality scenarios
Advanced knowledge of supplier quality tools: PPAP, MSA, 8D, RCA, CAPA, FMEA
Excellent communication skills for internal and external stakeholder engagement
Proficiency in ERP/PLM systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and quality software (Minitab, QMS platforms)
