The Supplier Development Manager is responsible for enhancing supplier capabilities, quality performance, and compliance of mechanical component vendors, focusing on critical items such as valves, pumps, rotating equipment, and pressure vessels. The role ensures suppliers meet stringent quality standards (QA/QC), engineering specifications, and industry codes (API, ASME, ISO), driving continuous improvement and risk mitigation throughout the supply chain.
Assess and improve supplier manufacturing and quality processes through audits, capability assessments, and on-site visits.
Lead supplier training programs on QA/QC best practices, welding and fabrication standards, inspection techniques, and quality systems.
Facilitate corrective action plans (CAPA) and monitor their implementation to resolve quality issues.
Collaborate with Quality Engineering and Procurement teams to establish quality requirements and inspection plans for mechanical components.
Drive root cause analysis and problem-solving initiatives for supplier-related non-conformances and defects.
Ensure supplier compliance with industry standards including API, ASME, ISO 9001, NACE, AWS, and customer-specific requirements.
Build strong partnerships with key mechanical component suppliers to foster transparency, accountability, and continuous quality improvements.
Manage performance scorecards, conduct regular reviews, and support supplier certification and qualification processes.
Identify and mitigate supply risks related to quality, delivery, and compliance.
Implement continuous improvement initiatives leveraging Lean, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies to enhance supplier quality performance.
Track and report on supplier quality KPIs such as defect rates, audit findings, delivery performance, and CAPA closure rates.
Coordinate cross-functional teams for supplier development projects and escalation management.
Bachelorβs degree in Mechanical Engineering, Quality Engineering, Metallurgy, or related field (Required)
Certifications such as CQE, ASQ, Six Sigma, or Welding Inspector credentials are preferred.
8+ years of experience in supplier quality management, supplier development, or QA/QC roles within mechanical components manufacturing (valves, rotating equipment, pressure vessels).
Experience working with international standards and codes relevant to mechanical equipment.
