Overview of the Role
The Structural Fabricator / Fitter will play a critical role in the construction and assembly of structural components for various projects. This position requires a skilled professional with extensive experience in metal fabrication and fitting, capable of leading a team while ensuring high-quality standards and safety protocols are met. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical skills, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings. As a supervisor, you will oversee the daily operations of the fabrication shop, manage workflow, and mentor junior fabricators, ensuring that all projects are completed on time and within budget.
Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage all aspects of the fabrication process, ensuring projects are completed on time and meet quality standards.
- Interpret and review complex technical drawings, blueprints, and project specifications to guide the team.
- Supervise and coordinate the activities of junior and senior fabricators, providing leadership and technical support.
- Inspect tools, equipment, and materials to ensure optimal performance and adherence to project requirements.
- Develop work schedules, assign tasks, and monitor progress to ensure efficient workflow.
- Conduct regular quality checks on completed work and ensure compliance with safety and industry standards.
- Train team members on advanced fabrication techniques, tools, and safety practices.
- Troubleshoot major technical and operational challenges, providing solutions to minimize downtime.
- Collaborate with management and engineering teams to plan, execute, and optimize fabrication projects.
- Prepare detailed reports on project progress, material usage, and team performance for management review.
Qualifications
- Education:
- Matriculation (high school diploma or equivalent).
- Technical diploma or certification in fabrication, welding, or related fields required.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in fabrication, welding, or a similar industrial role, with at least 1–2 years in a supervisory capacity.
- Skills:
- In-depth knowledge of fabrication tools, equipment, and advanced techniques.
- Strong ability to read, interpret, and implement complex technical drawings and blueprints.
- Proven leadership and team management skills.
