Job Title: Structural Engineer
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Structural Engineer to lead the design, analysis, and implementation of structural systems for a variety of complex infrastructure projects. In this role, you will oversee the structural design process from conception to completion, ensuring that designs meet performance, safety, and regulatory requirements. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, mentor junior engineers, and guide them to deliver high-quality and cost-effective structural solutions. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, in-depth technical knowledge, and a proven track record in managing and executing large-scale projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead Structural Design and Analysis:
- Take responsibility for the overall design and analysis of structural systems for commercial, residential, and industrial projects.
- Develop advanced structural calculations, design drawings, and specifications for complex projects such as bridges, high-rise buildings, and large infrastructure.
- Perform detailed structural analysis, including load-bearing calculations, stability, and stress analysis for various materials (steel, concrete, timber, etc.).
- Ensure that designs meet all local and international building codes, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
Project Management and Coordination:
- Lead the structural engineering aspects of projects, from initial concept through detailed design to final construction.
- Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources effectively, ensuring that project goals are met on time and within budget.
- Coordinate with architects, mechanical, electrical, and other engineering teams to ensure integrated and optimized designs.
- Oversee the preparation of tender documents and contracts, and manage relationships with clients, contractors, and suppliers.
Mentorship and Leadership:
- Mentor and guide junior and mid-level engineers, providing technical support and career development.
- Lead design reviews and provide feedback to junior engineers, ensuring high standards of quality and accuracy.
- Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the engineering team.
Site Supervision and Quality Assurance:
- Lead site visits to monitor construction progress, ensuring that structural components are built according to design specifications.
- Conduct inspections and assessments to ensure structural integrity and compliance with safety regulations during construction.
- Troubleshoot and resolve design issues or construction challenges that may arise on-site.
Testing and Structural Evaluation:
- Perform structural assessments of existing buildings and infrastructure, including condition assessments and evaluations of structural safety.
- Supervise testing and evaluation of new materials and methods for use in structural designs.
- Lead post-construction evaluations and provide recommendations for repairs or improvements to aging structures.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain detailed and organized documentation, including design calculations, drawings, and testing reports.
- Prepare clear and concise technical reports, presentations, and progress updates for stakeholders, including clients, management, and regulatory authorities.
- Ensure that all engineering work is properly documented, stored, and meets compliance standards.
Continuous Improvement and Innovation:
- Stay updated with the latest trends in structural engineering, materials, and design technologies.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements in design, construction methods, and project management.
- Promote sustainable design practices and ensure the adoption of best practices in structural engineering.
Key Focus Areas:
Aerodynamics:
- Assist in optimizing aerodynamic systems for aircraft or spacecraft performance using modeling software.
Propulsion Systems:
- Contribute to the development and testing of propulsion systems, focusing on efficiency and reliability.
Structural Engineering:
- Design and test structural components to ensure strength, durability, and safety.
Systems Integration:
- Support integration of mechanical, electrical, and avionics systems to ensure seamless operation.
Stress and Fatigue Analysis:
- Perform analysis on components to ensure they can withstand operational stresses and fatigue.
Quality Assurance & Control:
- Ensure adherence to industry standards through inspections, testing protocols, and quality control procedures.
