Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

Job Title: Structural Engineer

Job Summary:

We are looking for a Structural Engineer (Fresher Level) to join our team. This entry-level position is ideal for recent graduates who are eager to apply their engineering knowledge to real-world projects. As a Structural Engineer, you will assist in designing, analyzing, and evaluating the structural components and systems of various buildings, bridges, and other infrastructure projects. You will work under the guidance of senior engineers to learn and apply engineering principles, perform calculations, and help develop structural designs that meet safety, performance, and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Assisting in Structural Design:

    • Assist senior engineers in the design of structural elements such as beams, columns, foundations, and walls for buildings, bridges, and other infrastructure projects.
    • Use CAD software (AutoCAD, Revit, or similar) to create detailed structural drawings and models.
    • Work with senior engineers to ensure that designs meet relevant codes and standards.
  2. Structural Analysis and Calculations:

    • Help in performing structural calculations and analyses to ensure that designs can withstand loads, stress, and environmental conditions.
    • Assist in conducting calculations for materials, dimensions, and other key structural design parameters under the guidance of senior engineers.
    • Learn and apply various methods of structural analysis, including linear and non-linear analysis, for different types of structures.
  3. Site Visits and Inspections:

    • Assist in site visits to observe the construction process, ensuring that structural designs are being implemented as planned.
    • Help inspect the construction site and report any discrepancies between the plans and the built structure.
    • Assist in gathering data for post-construction analysis and evaluations.
  4. Collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams:

    • Work alongside architects, mechanical engineers, and construction teams to ensure that structural designs integrate seamlessly with other systems.
    • Assist in coordinating between different engineering teams to ensure that the project goals are met and that the design and construction processes run smoothly.
  5. Documentation and Reporting:

    • Maintain clear documentation of design work, calculations, inspection reports, and project-related materials.
    • Assist senior engineers in preparing reports, presentations, and other materials for clients and regulatory bodies.
    • Keep accurate and organized records of all calculations, modifications, and testing results.
  6. Learning and Development:

    • Participate in training sessions and learn from senior engineers to improve technical knowledge and practical skills.
    • Keep up to date with industry standards, codes, and the latest technologies in structural engineering.
    • Develop proficiency in the use of structural analysis and design software under the guidance of experienced engineers.

Key Focus Areas:

Aerodynamics:
  • Assist in optimizing aerodynamic systems for aircraft or spacecraft performance using modeling software.
Propulsion Systems:
  • Contribute to the development and testing of propulsion systems, focusing on efficiency and reliability.
Structural Engineering:
  • Design and test structural components to ensure strength, durability, and safety.
Systems Integration:
  • Support integration of mechanical, electrical, and avionics systems to ensure seamless operation.
Stress and Fatigue Analysis:
  • Perform analysis on components to ensure they can withstand operational stresses and fatigue.
Quality Assurance & Control:
  • Ensure adherence to industry standards through inspections, testing protocols, and quality control procedures.

Qualifications and Skills:

  1. Educational Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
    • Fresh graduates are encouraged to apply. Previous internships or academic project experience related to structural engineering is a plus.
  2. Technical Skills:

    • Familiarity with structural analysis and design principles.
    • Basic proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, Revit) for creating structural drawings and models.
    • Understanding of engineering mechanics, materials science, and structural design codes (e.g., AISC, Eurocode, or local building codes).
    • Familiarity with structural analysis software (e.g., SAP2000, ETABS, STAAD Pro) is beneficial but not required.
  3. Soft Skills:

    • Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow specifications and safety standards.
    • Good communication skills, both verbal and written, for reporting findings and working within a team.
    • A collaborative attitude and the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
    • Strong problem-solving abilities and the capacity to learn quickly and adapt to new challenges.
  4. Certifications (Optional but Beneficial):

    • Certification in AutoCAD or Revit is a plus.
    • Familiarity with building codes and local regulations is an advantage.
