The Senior Structural Assembly Supervisor provides expert leadership and oversight for the complete structural assembly and installation of clarifiers, storage tanks, access platforms, and related steel infrastructure in water treatment plants. This role is responsible for managing multiple crews, ensuring adherence to structural and welding codes, coordinating cross-functional teams, and driving high standards of safety, quality, and schedule compliance on large and complex projects.
Lead, mentor, and manage multiple structural assembly teams working on clarifiers, tanks, platforms, and associated steel structures.
Develop and implement assembly strategies, resource plans, and work schedules aligned with project goals and timelines.
Collaborate closely with engineering, QA/QC, procurement, and construction management to resolve design or construction challenges.
Provide expert interpretation of structural engineering drawings, welding procedures, and fabrication specifications.
Ensure all assemblies meet stringent codes and standards including AISC, AWS, ASME, and project-specific requirements.
Approve fit-up, welding procedures, NDE results, bolting torque, and final inspection reports.
Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for quality issues or structural failures.
Drive a safety-first culture by overseeing hazard assessments, safety audits, and training programs specific to structural assembly.
Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, fall protection standards, rigging safety, confined space entry, and other relevant protocols.
Lead incident investigations and implement preventive measures.
Evaluate crew performance, provide coaching, and facilitate skills development programs.
Identify process improvements to enhance efficiency, quality, and safety in structural assembly operations.
Manage subcontractors and third-party vendors involved in structural work.
Senior-level leadership of structural assembly for water treatment clarifiers, tanks, and platforms

Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related discipline preferred
Extensive trade or technical training with proven supervisory experience accepted
Certifications:
AWS Certified Welding Supervisor (CWS) or Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) highly desirable
OSHA 30+ certification
Rigging and fall protection certification required
Experience:
10+ years in structural steel assembly or fabrication, preferably in water/wastewater or heavy industrial projects
5+ years in senior supervisory or management roles overseeing large structural teams and complex assemblies
Proven track record managing structural projects compliant with AISC, AWS, ASME, and relevant codes
Skills:
Exceptional expertise reading and interpreting complex structural and fabrication drawings
Strong leadership, project management, and problem-solving capabilities
In-depth knowledge of safety standards and quality assurance protocols
Excellent communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills
