The Junior Structural Assembly Supervisor supports the assembly and installation of structural components such as clarifiers, tanks, platforms, and walkways in water treatment facilities. This entry-level supervisory role involves coordinating small teams, ensuring compliance with structural drawings and safety protocols, and assisting with quality inspections. This position is ideal for candidates starting a leadership path in structural fabrication and water treatment plant construction.
Assist in supervising the assembly of structural steel components including clarifier frames, storage tanks, access platforms, and support structures.
Ensure proper fit-up, alignment, and bolting/welding according to engineering drawings and specifications.
Coordinate with welders, fitters, and riggers to maintain steady workflow.
Support adherence to structural codes and standards such as AISC, AWS, and project-specific requirements.
Assist in visual inspections and documentation of assembly work.
Report any non-conformances or issues to senior supervisors.
Promote and enforce safety protocols including PPE, confined space awareness, and fall protection.
Participate in safety briefings, hazard assessments, and incident reporting.
Ensure tools and equipment are used properly and maintained.
Provide clear instructions to crew members and track daily progress.
Communicate effectively with senior supervisors regarding challenges or material needs.
Help maintain accurate job records and timesheets.

Education:
High school diploma or GED required
Technical or trade school coursework in structural fabrication, welding, or construction preferred

Experience:
1–3 years of experience in structural steel assembly, welding support, or related trades
Some previous team lead or supervisory experience helpful but not required
Skills:
Ability to read basic structural drawings and blueprints
Basic understanding of welding, bolting, and rigging processes
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Willingness to learn and follow instructions carefully
