The Shutdown and Turnaround I&C Supervisor is responsible for managing field execution of instrumentation and control (I&C) activities during scheduled plant shutdowns and turnarounds. This includes planning, supervising, and ensuring the timely completion of all calibration, loop testing, and functional verifications of I&C systems in coordination with multi-discipline teams under strict safety and quality standards.
Supervise I&C technicians and contractors during shutdown operations involving instrument removal, calibration, inspection, and reinstallation.
Ensure proper execution of loop checks, functional testing, and system commissioning of PLC/DCS, transmitters, control valves, and safety systems.
Review work permits, isolation procedures, and risk assessments to enforce safe working conditions.
Monitor execution progress of I&C scope and report daily updates to the Turnaround Engineer.
Coordinate manpower, tools, and calibration equipment to meet schedule requirements.
Maintain accurate documentation of calibration reports, test results, and system status.
Liaise with QA/QC teams to ensure compliance with specifications and standards.
Support planning teams in preparing work packs, shutdown checklists, and punch lists.
Ensure equipment is tagged and tracked correctly throughout removal and reinstallation.
Lead toolbox talks and field briefings related to safety and task execution.
Diploma or Bachelor's in Instrumentation, Control Systems, or Electrical Engineering
5–8 years of experience in instrumentation and control maintenance, including at least 2+ years in shutdowns or turnaround projects
Strong technical knowledge of field instrumentation, control logic, loop drawings, and control systems (PLC, DCS, SCADA)
Familiar with ISA standards, IEC codes, and plant HSE procedures
Ability to manage teams and work effectively under pressure in time-bound shutdowns
Field supervision and crew coordination
Strong troubleshooting and test execution skills
Proficient in using calibration tools and reading technical documentation
Excellent communication, planning, and safety awareness
Capable of working long shifts in high-demand environments
