The Senior Shutdown and Turnaround I&C Supervisor is responsible for the full supervision and technical execution of all Instrumentation and Control (I&C) activities during planned plant shutdowns and turnaround events. This role ensures strict adherence to safety, quality, and schedule while managing personnel, coordinating with cross-functional teams, and delivering the successful reinstatement of critical control systems.
Plan, execute, and supervise all I&C scopes of work related to shutdown and turnaround operations including dismantling, inspection, calibration, testing, and recommissioning.
Lead and mentor I&C supervisors, technicians, and third-party contractors to ensure safe and efficient field execution.
Review and validate work packs, loop folders, test sheets, and shutdown readiness checklists.
Supervise system isolation, loop checks, function testing, and final sign-off for PLC/DCS, ESD, SCADA, and field instrumentation.
Coordinate shutdown sequencing and integration with mechanical, electrical, and operations teams.
Enforce compliance with HSE regulations, work permits, lockout/tagout, and confined space protocols.
Troubleshoot and resolve complex I&C issues arising during execution, minimizing impact on the critical path.
Provide daily updates, progress tracking, and technical briefings to senior turnaround leadership.
Ensure all QA/QC documentation, calibration certificates, and test reports are complete and traceable.
Support post-shutdown performance reviews, lessons learned, and closeout documentation.
Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Instrumentation, Electrical, or Control Systems Engineering
8–12 years of experience in I&C maintenance, including 5+ years in major shutdown or turnaround environments
Strong expertise in process instrumentation, loop checks, PLC/DCS testing, and field control system commissioning
Proven leadership in managing multi-vendor, multi-discipline teams under tight timelines
Familiarity with industry standards (ISA, IEC, API), and HSE practices in high-risk environments
Strong leadership and organizational skills in high-pressure, time-bound operations
Excellent technical troubleshooting and commissioning capabilities
Proficient in reading P&IDs, I/O lists, loop drawings, and control logic diagrams
Effective stakeholder communication and conflict resolution abilities
