The Junior Shutdown/Turnaround Supervisor – HVAC supports planned shutdown and turnaround activities of HVAC systems in industrial or high-demand environments. This includes supervising field teams, ensuring safety compliance, supporting equipment isolation and servicing, and assisting in coordination for the safe and timely completion of maintenance tasks. This is a fast-paced, field-focused role requiring physical presence during long shifts and tight deadlines.
Assist in pre-shutdown preparation such as equipment inspection, tool planning, and site readiness.
Coordinate mobilization of HVAC personnel, tools, and consumables.
Review HVAC equipment shutdown scope (AHUs, chillers, ducting, valves, filters, fans, VRFs) and work packages.
Participate in job safety analysis (JSA) and risk assessments prior to shutdown execution.
Supervise technicians performing mechanical maintenance tasks such as:
Cleaning of AHUs, FCUs, and ducts.
Inspection/replacement of belts, bearings, filters, dampers.
Servicing or overhauling HVAC compressors, chillers, and motors.
Leak checks, refrigerant recovery, and recharging operations.
Monitor compliance with isolation procedures (LOTO), hot work permits, and confined space entry.
Track task progress, ensure proper manpower allocation, and report daily status to the senior supervisor or engineer.
Respond to unexpected issues such as part failures, delays, or access challenges with immediate coordination.
Support re-commissioning of HVAC systems and confirm operational readiness.
Ensure all tools and materials are accounted for and properly demobilized.
Assist in documentation of test results, punch list clearance, and lessons learned.
Execution Supervision: Hands-on field supervision of HVAC shutdown jobs.
Safety Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to shutdown HSE procedures.
Workforce Coordination: Allocate tasks to technicians and contractors as per daily plan.
Technical Awareness: Understand basic working of HVAC mechanical components and service tasks.
Reporting & Documentation: Assist with shift-wise reporting, manpower logs, and maintenance records.
ITI / Diploma / Degree in Mechanical or HVAC.
1–3 years of experience in HVAC servicing, preferably in an industrial or shutdown environment.
Familiarity with tools like vacuum pumps, leak detectors, filter pullers, and cleaning kits.
Ability to read simple HVAC layouts, work scopes, and follow task sequences.
Strong sense of responsibility, urgency, and on-site discipline.
Exposure to confined space entry, elevated work platforms, and use of PPE.
