We are seeking a highly experienced and technically skilled Senior Sheet Metal Specialist to lead advanced fabrication, assembly, and installation activities for HVAC ducting systems and aircraft skin structures. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the structural integrity, precision, and quality of sheet metal components in aerospace and environmental control applications.
Advanced Fabrication Leadership:
Lead the precision fabrication and assembly of complex ducting and aircraft skin components, ensuring conformance to high-tolerance specifications.
Technical Supervision & Mentorship:
Train and mentor junior and mid-level specialists, promote technical growth, and ensure consistent fabrication practices across the team.
Installation Oversight:
Supervise and participate in the installation of sheet metal systems, ensuring structural alignment, fitment, and compliance with design intent.
Quality & Compliance Assurance:
Drive quality control efforts by conducting detailed inspections, overseeing compliance with industry standards (AS9100, SMACNA, NADCAP), and supporting corrective actions.
Process Improvement & Tooling Development:
Identify and implement improvements in fabrication techniques, tooling use, and process efficiency to reduce rework and material waste.
Cross-Functional Coordination:
Collaborate with engineering, quality, and production teams to solve technical challenges and refine manufacturability.
Lead the fabrication and installation of HVAC ducts and aircraft skins using hand tools, forming machines, riveters, sealants, and welding equipment.
Interpret and validate engineering drawings, CAD models, and technical documents to ensure dimensional and functional accuracy.
Perform complex layout, measurement, forming, and modification operations with high precision.
Guide and inspect the work of team members, ensuring quality control at every stage.
Recommend tooling solutions and fabrication process enhancements.
Maintain a safe and clean work environment in compliance with regulatory and company safety standards.
Provide feedback to design and engineering on manufacturability and fitment concerns.
Certificate, Diploma, or Associate/Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Sheet Metal Technology, or Aircraft Structures.
7+ years of experience in sheet metal fabrication, with significant focus on HVAC ducting and aircraft skin structures.
Expert knowledge of forming, cutting, riveting, and precision fitting techniques.
Strong familiarity with aerospace and HVAC fabrication codes and standards (e.g., AS9100, SMACNA, NADCAP).
Proficient in blueprint reading, GD&T interpretation, and use of measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges).
Proven leadership, mentoring, and troubleshooting skills.
Strong communication skills and the ability to coordinate with multidisciplinary teams.
Physically fit and capable of performing demanding fabrication tasks in shop or field environments.
