Roles & Responsibilities

The Junior Sensor Wiring Technician supports the installation, wiring, and basic testing of industrial sensors such as temperature (RTDs, thermocouples), proximity, and Hall Effect sensors. This role focuses on learning and assisting with proper wiring practices, safety procedures, and documentation under the guidance of senior technicians or supervisors.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Sensor Installation Support:
    Assist with the physical mounting and basic alignment of sensors at designated field locations based on installation drawings.

  • Wiring & Termination Assistance:
    Help in routing, pulling, and terminating control and signal cables from field sensors to junction boxes or panels under supervision.

  • Tool Handling & Setup:
    Use basic tools (screwdrivers, wire strippers, multimeters) and assist in setting up equipment for sensor wiring tasks.

  • Documentation Support:
    Assist in labeling cables and updating simple installation checklists and records.

  • Drawing Interpretation:
    Learn to read and understand basic wiring diagrams, cable schedules, and termination drawings.

  • Safety Compliance:
    Follow safety protocols including use of PPE, safe handling of tools and materials, and awareness of lockout/tagout procedures.

  • Material Handling:
    Organize, transport, and account for sensor wiring materials such as cables, glands, tags, and conduit fittings.


Focus Areas:

  1. Foundational Skill Development:
    Build hands-on experience in sensor wiring techniques, including shielding, grounding, and cable routing for analog/digital signals.

  2. Sensor Type Familiarity:
    Gain working knowledge of temperature sensors (RTDs, thermocouples), inductive/capacitive proximity sensors, and Hall Effect sensors.

  3. Assisting Senior Technicians:
    Support mid and senior-level technicians with preparatory and follow-up work during sensor installation.

  4. Installation Environment Readiness:
    Understand the importance of sensor placement, wiring protection, and signal integrity in industrial environments.

  5. Workplace Discipline & Safety:
    Learn site safety practices, documentation procedures, and work etiquette required in industrial projects.


Qualifications:

  • ITI, Diploma, or Vocational Training in Electrical, Electronics, or Instrumentation.

  • 0–2 years of experience in field instrumentation or electrical wiring (internships or apprenticeships preferred).

  • Basic understanding of electric circuits, analog/digital signals, and sensor functionality.

  • Eagerness to learn from experienced professionals and adapt to field conditions.

  • Good manual dexterity, attention to detail, and team collaboration skills.
