We are seeking a technically strong and hands-on Mid-Level Turbine Engineer to support the design, operation, maintenance, and performance optimization of gas and/or steam turbine systems. This role requires a working knowledge of rotating equipment, thermodynamic cycles, maintenance practices, and field operations. The engineer will be involved in troubleshooting, inspection planning, outage execution, and equipment performance analysis.
This position bridges field engineering and technical design support and is essential to ensuring equipment reliability, efficiency, and compliance with OEM and industry standards.
Provide day-to-day engineering support for turbine operation, monitoring equipment performance and identifying anomalies.
Review and interpret OEM technical manuals, operating procedures, and engineering documentation.
Collaborate with plant operations to optimize turbine output, heat rate, and startup/shutdown cycles.
Plan and lead routine inspections, borescope examinations, vibration analysis, and thermodynamic assessments.
Investigate mechanical issues such as excessive vibration, abnormal temperatures, thermal expansion, or seal leakage.
Support trip investigations and root cause analyses of turbine failures or performance drops.
Develop scopes of work for scheduled outages, part replacements, and minor modifications.
Supervise field contractors or OEM teams during turbine overhauls, rotor alignments, and bearing replacements.
Maintain turbine lifecycle data, service records, and part tracking.
Perform basic to intermediate thermodynamic and mechanical calculations related to turbine efficiency and mechanical loads.
Analyze startup curves, combustion temperatures (for gas turbines), and steam conditions (for steam turbines).
Recommend upgrades or retrofits for performance improvement or reliability enhancement.
Generate technical reports, incident documentation, risk assessments, and engineering change proposals.
Review and update technical drawings, isometrics, and P&IDs as required.
Interface with control systems, piping, reliability, instrumentation, and electrical teams.
Coordinate with OEMs and third-party service providers on warranty claims, upgrades, or modifications.
Bachelorโs degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related discipline.
Additional certifications (e.g., in vibration analysis, thermodynamics, NDT methods) are a plus.
3โ7 years of experience in turbine engineering, turbomachinery support, or power plant O&M.
Experience with at least one major OEM platform (GE, Siemens, Mitsubishi, Alstom, etc.).
Strong understanding of thermodynamic cycles (Brayton, Rankine), turbine components, and wear mechanisms.
Proficiency in using tools such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, ANSYS, or PTC Creo.
Experience with condition monitoring systems like Bently Nevada, SKF, or ADRE.
Familiarity with vibration analysis, thermal expansion, clearances, and rotor alignment principles.
Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
Excellent communication and technical report-writing skills
Attention to detail and proactive approach to reliability and safety
