Plan, coordinate, and execute natural stone and marble works—floors, walls, stairs, skirtings, thresholds, vanity/kitchen tops, and limited exterior works—per approved drawings/specifications, achieving high finish quality, durability, and safety, while complying with Sharjah Municipality requirements and accounting for weather and traffic/logistics constraints.
Review IFC/shop drawings, finish schedules, room data sheets, and movement-joint layouts; raise RFIs for conflicts.
Prepare sample boards/mock-ups (finish, edge profiles, sealers, grout) for consultant/client approval.
Set out patterns (straight, diagonal, book-match/vein-match) using control lines/laser; confirm datum levels and falls in wet areas (typically 1–2%).
Check substrate flatness/levelness and moisture; verify screed strength/cure (and waterproofing status in wet zones).
Install primers/bonding agents where specified; place uncoupling membranes, crack isolation, or sound underlay as required.
Coordinate with MEP for penetrations, drains, and floor boxes before close-up.
Select slabs/tiles to match shade and vein; dry-lay for pattern continuity.
Use correct adhesive system (cementitious/rapid-set/epoxy) and back-buttering for ≥95% coverage on floors and wet areas.
Control joint width and lippage to project tolerances; align skirting/architraves and edges with consistent reveals.
Form movement joints at perimeters, transitions, and fields as detailed; install soft joints at door thresholds and long runs.
Fix stair treads/risers, nosings, and edge trims; ensure anti-slip treatment where specified.
Install vanity/kitchen tops with proper support, cut-outs, edge profiles, sealers, and silicone backs.
Execute external thresholds/entrance steps with drip edges, proper bedding, and fall away from the building.
Grout with approved materials (cementitious/epoxy) matched to joint width and exposure; clean grout haze promptly.
Apply penetrating sealers/anti-stain treatments and anti-slip where specified; record batch/product data.
Protect finished surfaces (cardboard/hardboard + polythene + edge guards) and enforce traffic restrictions until handover.
Follow method statements/ITPs; present work for MIR/WIR inspections.
Check tolerances: alignment, joint uniformity, lippage/flatness, falls, and finish sheen.
Maintain registers: area tally, slab IDs, sealer/grout batches, snag lists and closures; update redlines for any detail changes.
Sequence works with waterproofing, MEP first/second fix, gypsum/ceilings, and joinery to avoid rework.
Protect adjacent finishes (glass, aluminum, joinery) from slurry/dust and cutting.
Manual handling and lifting plans for heavy slabs (A-frames, dollies, vacuum lifters).
Control silica dust (wet cutting/extraction, RPE), noise, and flying fragments; use guards and PPE.
Safe electrical use for cutters; tidy cords/hoses; maintain housekeeping and access routes.
Heat & Humidity:
Store stone and adhesives under shade/ventilation; acclimatize materials to reduce warping and rapid setting.
Schedule adhesive/grout works in early morning/evening; comply with MOHRE summer midday break.
Extend curing times; avoid direct sun on fresh installations; cool mixing water if required by manufacturer.
Dust/Sand:
Protect surfaces from wind-blown dust; cover adjacent areas; clean bonding faces before laying and before sealing.
Use wet cutting or dust extraction; keep plenum/MEP equipment protected.
Occasional Rain/Coastal Effects:
Cover exterior works and stored slabs; avoid fixing on saturated substrates; use corrosion-resistant fixings/supports where specified.
For external thresholds/steps, ensure slip resistance and effective drainage/drip details.
Traffic & Logistics:
Plan off-peak or night deliveries for slabs/tiles; use banksmen for off-loading; coordinate SRTA/Police permits if roadside access is impacted.
Stage materials close to work fronts without overloading slabs; protect lifts/hoists and common corridors.
7–10+ years marble/stone installation including UAE/GCC experience on residential/commercial projects.
Proficient in floor/wall/stair works, vein/book-matching, edge profiling, epoxy grouting, sealing, and protection.
Able to read drawings/levels; familiar with project tolerances and movement-joint principles.
Knowledge of substrate assessment, waterproofing interfaces, and anti-slip/sealer systems.
Basic English for coordination; Arabic/Urdu/Hindi an advantage.
Wet table saws/angle grinders with diamond blades & extraction, suction lifters/vacuum lifters, A-frames/dollies, levels/laser, notched trowels, mixing paddles, spacers/leveling systems, polishing pads, sealant guns, PPE (gloves, boots, goggles, hearing protection, respirator).
High-end finish quality and pattern control
Accurate setting-out and tolerance management
Safe handling and installation of heavy stone
Coordination with other trades and protection of finished works
Time management and housekeeping
First-time pass on WIRs; lippage and joint tolerances within spec.
Mock-up acceptance on first/second submission; minimal shade variation issues.
Snag-to-de-snag cycle within target; rework < threshold.
No staining/cracking/chipping during DLP; anti-slip and falls compliant in wet/external areas.
Zero lost-time incidents; adherence to midday break and site traffic plan.
