We are seeking a highly experienced and technically proficient Senior Boiler Engineer with in-depth knowledge of the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code (BPVC) to lead the engineering, design, and compliance efforts for pressure-retaining equipment including boilers, pressure vessels, and heat exchangers. The ideal candidate will play a key role in ensuring code compliance, optimizing designs, guiding junior staff, and supporting shop fabrication and field operations.
Lead the engineering and design of boiler systems and pressure vessels in compliance with ASME BPVC Sections I, IV, VIII Div. 1/2, and other relevant codes (API, NBIC, PED, etc.).
Perform advanced mechanical design calculations including pressure thickness, stress analysis, nozzle reinforcement, thermal expansion, and fatigue.
Oversee design activities and ensure best practices are followed throughout the lifecycle of the project.
Ensure full compliance with ASME code requirements, including stamping, documentation, testing, and inspection.
Review and approve Manufacturer’s Data Reports (Form U-1, P-1, etc.), material certificates, welding records (WPS/PQR), and inspection test plans (ITPs).
Liaise with Authorized Inspectors (AIs), Notified Bodies, and third-party agencies to ensure code certification and audit readiness.
Serve as the technical lead for complex projects, overseeing design execution, fabrication, shop floor coordination, and field installation.
Provide technical guidance and resolution to fabrication issues, non-conformances, and field modifications.
Coordinate across disciplines (QA/QC, procurement, manufacturing) to ensure quality, schedule, and budget goals are met.
Mentor and support the development of junior and mid-level engineers.
Conduct design reviews, provide peer feedback, and drive a culture of technical excellence and compliance.
Supervise or conduct hydrostatic testing, NDE (RT, UT, PT, MT), PWHT procedures, and code stamping.
Investigate failure modes and degradation mechanisms (corrosion, fatigue, creep) and provide long-term reliability solutions.
Lead root cause analysis (RCA) and implement corrective/preventive actions for recurring issues.
Stay current on ASME code revisions, new technologies, and industry trends.
Recommend improvements in design methodology, software tools, and fabrication practices.
Support R&D initiatives and evaluate emerging materials or design approaches.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (Master’s degree or PE license preferred).
Additional certifications in pressure vessel design, welding engineering, or ASME/NBIC codes are a plus.
Experience:
Minimum 8–10 years of experience in the design, fabrication, and inspection of pressure vessels and boilers.
Extensive hands-on experience with ASME BPVC, including Section I and VIII Div. 1 (Div. 2 experience preferred).
Experience working with shop fabrication, welding, NDE, and pressure equipment compliance in regulated industries.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in design software such as Compress, PV Elite, Codeware, or equivalent.
Strong knowledge of CAD platforms (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Inventor).
Familiarity with inspection techniques, material standards (ASTM, ASME SA-series), and welding codes (ASME Section IX).
Understanding of PED, ISO 9001, API 510, or other international pressure equipment directives is advantageous.
Strong leadership and project management skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
High level of precision, accountability, and adherence to safety and code compliance.
Ability to manage cross-functional teams and interface with clients, vendors, and regulatory bodies.
Passion for mentorship and continuous improvement.
